Duties and responsibilities
Production Roaster Job Purpose
To roast coffee and manage coffee quality to ensure a consistent product that meets the diverse needs of
Buddy Brew Coffee's Retail, Wholesale, and Grocery channels.
This role is responsible for tracking and documenting inventory to maintain accurate stock levels, support
all sales opportunities, and ensure coffee is sourced in a manner that balances strong producer and
supplier relationships, exceptional quality, and overall value. Through effective inventory management,
strategic purchasing, and quality assurance, this position contributes to achieving annual departmental
goals.
Success in this role requires a continuous commitment to learning, evaluating coffee offerings, and
developing innovative processes that improve efficiency, quality, and overall operational performance.

Duties and Responsibilities
Roasting Operations & Inventory Management
-Serves as a leader and key point of contact for Production Operations, maintaining a professional
demeanor at all times.
-Assists in monitoring production team activities to ensure manufacturing processes are
completed efficiently and in compliance with Florida Department of Agriculture and FDA food
safety, handling, and packaging requirements.
-Establishes daily roasting and packaging production schedules through ShipStation, Cropster,
and the Company Portal, while serving as a subject matter expert on order flow and production
planning.
-Organizes and roasts coffee to meet all production requirements, ensuring product availability for
the packaging team and on-time order fulfillment.
-Maintains a comprehensive understanding of green and roasted coffee inventories to ensure all
customer and internal demands can be met without stock shortages.
-Accurately tracks and records green coffee purchases, storage inventories, and roasted coffee
inventories on a weekly and monthly basis.
-Maintains clear and timely communication, both in person and through Slack, to ensure all
company coffee needs are understood and addressed efficiently.
Coffee Quality & Green Coffee Management
-Leads daily coffee quality initiatives through cupping, sensory evaluation, and ongoing quality
control processes to ensure all roasted coffees meet established standards for quality and
consistency.
-Works closely with Retail, Grocery, Wholesale, and Cold Brew teams to understand product
requirements and optimize roast profiles for intended extraction methods and customer
experiences.
-Continuously develops knowledge of coffee quality, origin characteristics, regional flavor profiles,
seasonal availability, market trends, and pricing to support informed green coffee purchasing
decisions.
-Assists in evaluating green coffee offerings and sourcing opportunities that align with Buddy Brew
Coffees standards for quality, relationship building, and value.
Regulatory Compliance & Facility Excellence
-Maintains a thorough understanding of CCOF Organic certification requirements and accurately
records all organic coffee purchases, inventory movements, and sales activities.
-Ensures daily cleaning logs are completed and that all organic green and roasted coffees are
stored, handled, and processed in accordance with certification requirements.
-Maintains workspaces, equipment, and production areas to meet or exceed Good Manufacturing
Practices (GMP) standards and minimize food safety risks.
-Continuously monitors and eliminates clutter throughout the facility, ensuring all tools, materials,
and inventory are organized and properly stored to support efficient operations.
-Maintains roasting, packaging, and support equipment in a clean, safe, and operational condition
to minimize downtime and prevent maintenance-related delays.
-Identifies and communicates equipment maintenance needs promptly and works proactively to
support preventative maintenance efforts.

Qualifications

-Education Minimum High School degree
-Computer skills in Excel and Word
-Capable to becoming a licensed forklift operator
-A valid state issued drivers license without major infractions
-Ability to use Quicken Books, MS Word, MS Excel
-Ability to work with a sense of urgency
-Attention to detail
-Ability to follow procedures
-Ability to clearly and neatly document daily production numbers for tracking purposes
