Production Roaster

Reports to: Head Roaster

Direct reports: None

Status: Non-exempt, Part-Time (15-20 hours a week)

Wage: $18-22

Position Summary:

The Production Roaster plays a key role in day-to-day roasting operations, supporting our Head Roaster in all aspects of production. This hands-on position includes assisting with roasting, maintaining a clean and organized roasting facility, preparing retail and wholesale orders, and delivering roasted coffee to local partners.

Duties/Responsibilities


  • Assist Head Roaster during roasting sessions (loading green coffee, roasting batches, logging data)
  • Match roast profiles and weigh out coffee with attention to detail
  • Follow roasting schedules and help prepare batches for packaging
  • Perform daily cleaning of roasting equipment (e.g., chaff collector, cooling tray, hopper)
  • Maintain clean floors, surfaces, and work areas throughout the roastery
  • Be present and facilitate green coffee deliveries and consolidate inventory in an organized fashion
  • Support regular deep cleaning and preventative maintenance tasks
  • Weigh, bag, date, and label coffee with accuracy and efficiency
  • Organize and prepare wholesale and online orders for shipment or pickup
  • Ensure all products meet freshness and quality standards before distribution
  • Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor with customers during drop-offs
  • Adhere to safety procedures and cleanliness standards throughout the production process

Physical Environment:

  • Job in Roastery mostly solo or very few people
  • Handling coffee regularly
  • On feet 50% of job
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs a short distance and perform physical tasks in a warehouse/roasting setting
  • This position requires you to be on-site.

  • Coffee/ Barista experience is a MUST
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
