Position Summary

The Roaster Operator is responsible for ensuring that roasted pistachio products meet all food safety, quality, regulatory, and customer specifications. This position operates roasting equipment, monitors critical control points, maintains production records, and ensures compliance with GMP, HACCP, allergen control, food defense, and company safety requirements.

Essential Functions

• Operate roasting equipment and monitor roasting processes to ensure product quality and consistency.
• Maintain proper roasting parameters including temperature, bed speed, bed depth, and salinity levels.
• Complete startup inspections and hourly quality checks.
• Open and manage roasting work orders and ensure necessary supplies are available.
• Visually inspect and verify product identity before roasting.
• Maintain clean and organized staging and roasting areas in accordance with allergen control requirements.
• Record production data and complete roasting logs accurately and timely.
• Report food safety concerns, equipment issues, and production deviations to management.
• Follow all GMP, HACCP, food safety, and company policies.
• Wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures.
• Assist with sanitation activities and production flow organization.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Three (3) to six (6) months of related experience and/or training preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred or ability to become certified.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
