Job description

The Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Global Road Safety (GRS) is seeking a dynamic, passionate self-starter to join the GRS SRA Governance team as a Senior Program Manager supporting the Americas region. This role will be focused on identifying, analyzing and mitigating safety risks as well as ensuring the performance and effectiveness of safety risk controls to enable Amazon to safely scale as the largest package delivery service on the planet. Additionally, this role will ensure the organization exceeds its safety objectives through collecting, analyzing, and assessing information.

Amazon is constantly innovating and our operations must evolve with the business to ensure we maintain the highest safety standards for our Associates, third party transportation providers, and the general public. You will build safety risk assessments and management protocols for our businesses, create metrics to evaluate risk control effectiveness, oversee qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, and knowledge of risk remediation/mitigation/control processes is strongly preferred. This role requires scoping large projects, managing safety risk assessment timelines, identifying safety gaps, and communicating to senior management on safety risks.

Cross-team coordination, project management, executive presentation skills, a penchant for process improvement, and a proven history of delivering results are essential for success. A bias for action and comfort in dealing with ambiguity are a must. Often times it will not be clear how we will reach our end goal; you will be expected to help carve a path by taking risks and be willing to try new things, fail fast then iterate.

Strong analytics and safety experience will be valued in an applicant.
Key job responsibilities
Lead safety risk assessment and management framework development partnering with cross-functional teams. The SRM is responsible for identifying control improvements and building partnerships with teams to resolve identified risks.

The SRM will document controls testing and risk assessment/management findings. Monitor risk management and assurance methodologies from a process improvement perspective as the program grows. Conduct internal training to educate teams in safety risk management processes, review and inform transportation safety-related policies to drive policy improvements as well as conduct safety risk assessments for compliance with On-The-Road (OTR) safety regulations, policies, standards, and procedures.

The SRM will analyze data to identify trends and provide recommendations to proactively control safety risks. Convey findings, including escalations, to stakeholders in a clear, easily digestible format. The SRM will monitor continuous process improvement; use the right metrics to measure policy quality and opportunities.

Look around corners and anticipate safety challenges/obstacles the business could face and proactively develop a plan to address.
A day in the life
The GRS SRA Governance team leads safety risk assessment completion and guardrails internal processes. They will collaborate with our Global Field Execution (GFE) team, customers, and additional stakeholders in order to complete Safety Risk Assessments. This includes engaging with senior leadership and in field Amazonians to drive a consistent global safety risk management approach

This role has a direct impact on program launches/pilots and safety initiatives.
