Job description

Implementation Consultant - Transportation Management System (TMS)
Location: Jacksonville, FL (Hybrid)
We exist to transform our customers and change lives
Who We're Looking For
The Technical Implementation Consultant will be responsible for the design, configuration, testing, and supporting the full implementation of the RF-SMART Transportation Management System (TMS) product. With a strong understanding of transportation operations, freight management, and supply chain best practices, the Implementation Consultant will lead the implementation effort directly for our customers within the given and committed deadline.
For the Technical Implementation Consultant to be successful, they will need strong Project Management skills, proficiency in common PM frameworks, and a solid command of industry best practices across transportation modes and logistics operations. The Implementation Consultant needs to be comfortable working on multiple projects at any given time with the ability to manage implementation timelines and commitments.
You will join the RF-SMART TMS team during the final phase of product development, embedded with the product team as we prepare for general availability. That means you will have direct influence over how the implementation practice is built. If the idea of helping shape a product and implementation practice from the inside is what motivates you, this is the role.
What You'll Do
Customer Consultancy
  • Diagnose transportation network challenges quickly and translate operational gaps into clear solution designs that set implementations up for success from day one.
  • Serve as a Trusted Advisor across freight management, carrier management, multi-modal transportation, shipment visibility, and freight cost optimization - helping customers make confident decisions throughout their journey.
  • Review and refine requirements, specifications, and business process recommendations to ensure proposed solutions align with customer goals and RF-SMART's implementation standards.
  • Channel real customer experience back to the product team, translating field observations into actionable enhancement recommendations that strengthen the TMS for every future customer.

Product Implementation
  • Own the full implementation lifecycle as the primary customer contact - leading design, configuration, testing, training, and go-live - so customers cross the finish line on time and with confidence.
  • Develop and deliver detailed implementation plans that keep internal teams and customers aligned, accountable, and moving forward.
  • Diagnose and resolve configuration and data layer issues before they escalate, protecting project timelines and customer trust.
  • Drive all project milestones from functional specification through go-live - including integration testing, user acceptance, and post-launch support.

Ongoing Customer Support & Engagement
  • Stay engaged beyond go-live as the primary support resource during the critical early market period, giving customers the continuity they need to succeed with a new product.
  • Own the long-term customer relationship from initial implementation through sustained success, building the kind of trust that turns customers into advocates.
  • Spot recurring issues and surface them as product intelligence that directly shapes the TMS development roadmap.
  • Build productive relationships at every level of the customer organization ensuring alignment and smooth adoption.
  • Partner with the Sales team on new opportunities, bringing implementation credibility and project estimates to the sales process.

Must-Have Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in transportation management, logistics operations, or supply chain.
  • Hands-on experience with TMS platforms and transportation systems including freight visibility tools, EDI connectivity, and carrier integrations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work at the technical layer of a software implementation - reading system logs, interpreting API payloads, performing complex field mapping, working with FreeMarker templates, writing custom rules, and troubleshooting integration issues independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent implementations independently without losing momentum on any of them.
  • Must be located in Jacksonville, FL.
  • Ability to travel 30% or more, with higher frequency expected during the initial launch and customer ramp period.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related discipline; other business management backgrounds considered.
  • Working knowledge of ERP supply chain software; NetSuite experience is a strong advantage.
  • Project Management experience with ERP or TMS implementations; familiarity with tools like MS Project or Smartsheet is a plus.
  • Experience indirectly leading a team, or a genuine interest in growing into a leadership role as the practice scales.
  • Desire to leave a lasting mark on both the product roadmap and the team - this role is a rare opportunity to help build something from the ground up.

Why RF-SMART
You'll be joining a 40+ year company that still operates like a team that has something to prove. RF-SMART has a 94% employee retention rate, not because we talk about culture, but because we invest in it.
