Job description

Itron has an exciting opportunity for a Revenue Accountant with strong potential for career development. In this role, you will develop, implement, and maintain revenue recognition models that support complex customer deployment projects across the Utilities & Energy landscape. You will partner closely with project managers and crossfunctional stakeholders to ensure revenue is accurately recognized, reported, and compliant with U.S. GAAP. This position plays a critical role in delivering transparent, customercentric financial insights that enable informed business decisions and operational excellence.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review customer contracts to identify performance obligations and contract elements in alignment with revenue recognition standards and Itron policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance accurate revenue recognition models for assigned customer deployment projects, demonstrating accountability and attention to detail.
  • Partner collaboratively with project managers and key stakeholders to update monthly forecasts for revenue and costs, ensuring timely and accurate financial insights.
  • Perform critical analysis of forecast changes to assess revenue recognition impacts and proactively identify risks or opportunities.
  • Monitor and prepare monthly revenue, cost, deferred revenue, and unbilled receivable reports that support internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate, design, and implement scalable processes and internal controls that ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and support Itron's innovative, agile operating model.
  • Communicate and educate crossfunctional partners on revenue recognition requirements in a clear, authentic, and customerfocused manner.
  • Assist the Revenue Manager in documenting and communicating professional judgments related to revenue recognition.
  • Oversee customer invoicing for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and a positive customer experience.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations related to revenue recognition and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions within financial systems.
  • Build and sustain strong, collaborative relationships with project managers, finance partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute positively to a highperforming, inclusive, and continuousimprovementfocused team environment.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with a strong emphasis in accounting.
  • 1+ years of experience with revenue recognition accounting principles and related pronouncements.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the application of revenue recognition standards to customer contracts.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently identify issues early and propose thoughtful, compliant solutions.
  • Demonstrated accountability, attention to detail, and ability to see tasks through to completion in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to nonfinance partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced, technologydriven organization.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Public accounting experience; Big 4 experience strongly preferred.
  • CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA designation.
  • Experience with Oracle financial systems, including the Oracle Projects module.
  • Exposure to projectbased accounting environments, particularly within technology, utilities, or energyrelated industries.
  • Demonstrated willingness to take on additional responsibilities, contribute innovative ideas, and support continuous process improvement.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience and may vary by location. The base salary is $60,000-101,250 annually.
