Returns Manager information

What is a returns manager?

Returns Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the process of product returns within a company. They coordinate the receipt, inspection, and disposition of returned goods, ensuring that company policies and customer satisfaction standards are met. Returns Managers work closely with logistics, customer service, and warehouse teams to streamline returns procedures, minimize losses, and improve the overall returns experience. Their role is vital in maintaining inventory accuracy and reducing the financial impact of product returns.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a returns manager?

To thrive as a Returns Manager, you need expertise in supply chain management, inventory control, and data analysis, often supported by a bachelor’s degree in business or logistics. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP software, and return authorization tools is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, leadership, and effective communication are essential soft skills for managing teams and resolving customer issues. These skills ensure efficient, cost-effective return processes and uphold customer satisfaction in a highly competitive marketplace.

What are some common challenges faced by returns managers and how can they effectively address them?

Returns Managers often face challenges such as handling high volumes of returned merchandise, ensuring accurate processing, and minimizing costs associated with returns. Effective communication with warehouse staff, customer service teams, and suppliers is essential to streamline the reverse logistics process. Implementing clear return policies and leveraging technology for tracking and analysis can help identify trends, reduce errors, and improve overall efficiency. Continual process improvement and collaboration with cross-functional teams are key to overcoming these challenges and maintaining customer satisfaction.

What is the difference between Returns Manager vs Customer Service Representative?

Job description

Accounting Manager-Pasadena, CA

A well-established CPA firm in Pasadena is looking for an Accounting Manager to take ownership of a diverse client portfolio spanning accounting, tax, and payroll services. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants real client relationships and a path toward firm leadership, not just a seat behind a desk.

What you'll do

You'll manage the full client relationship, from monthly accounting reports to tax return preparation and review. You'll mentor junior team members, and be a visible presence in the firm's business development efforts. Expect to work closely with partners on both client work and the firm's own internal accounting.

Day to day, that means:

Preparing and supervising monthly accounting reports and client tax returns. Managing client relationships with a strong service orientation and quick turnaround on requests. Applying sound judgment around materiality and prioritization across a busy caseload. Using firm checklists and procedures to keep work accurate and audit-ready. Contributing to the firm's growth through business development alongside the partner group.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Experience in a CPA firm or financial services environment

Strong organization skill, self-directed, and comfortable making decisions

Excellent communication, both in writing and in person, and you know how to handle sensitive client information with discretion

Strong Excel and Word skills are a must
