Overview

At Office Depot, the Retail Store Supervisor role is a full-time position that focuses on providing comprehensive solutions to our customers across various areas, including Technology, Services, Furniture, and Print offerings. This role involves quickly building and maintaining relationships with customers to establish trust and become their go-to advisor on Technology products/services and print offerings. The Store Supervisor demonstrates a strong passion for the brand, technology products, furniture, services, print, and other services/products we offer. They effectively utilize Office Depot’s proven sales principles to proactively engage customers and drive sales of our complete range of offerings. The Store Supervisor will support a customer-centric environment, engagement with the local community, all while contributing to a positive culture aligned with the Office Depot 5C values of Customer, Commitment, Change, Caring, and Creativity. Additionally, the Store Supervisor is responsible for training other associates on Technology products, selling techniques, attachments, services and driving sales.

The Store Supervisor must be able to work a flexible schedule that aligns with business needs, inclusive of the ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. In addition, Full-Time Supervisor positions must be able to perform External Key Carrier responsibilities which include but are not limited to opening and closing responsibilities.

The Store Supervisor is an essential role in driving our store's success through inspiring sales brilliance and exceptional service. The ideal Store Supervisor should be passionate about sales, delivering exceptional service, driving operational excellence, and developing a high-performing team.

Primary Responsibilities:

Sales and Service Excellence:

  • Foster a culture that builds trust, brand loyalty and exceptional client service delivery.
  • Utilizes and understands the selling program to promote the sale of the best solution as well as additional product and/or services solutions. Maintains awareness of planned advertisements and promotions. Provides exceptional customer service by educating customers about Office Depot products and services.
  • Effectively utilizes communication tools to request assistance anywhere on the sales floor, and to coordinate the appropriate service, and customer engagement throughout the store.
  • Able to evaluate the customer’s needs to determine the total solution.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Provide guidance, direction, and ongoing training to store associates, including Print Services associates.
  • Facilitate training sessions on the business model and the holistic service offering for clients/customers.
  • Observe, coach, and provide feedback to enhance associate proficiency and build a culture of trust and brand loyalty.
  • Provide feedback to the General Manager regarding store associates' performance, certification(s), and competencies.
  • Other responsibilities as deemed necessary

Operational Efficiency:

  • Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures, deadlines, and visual merchandising standards.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies.
  • As a leader in the store, ensure regular loss prevention compliance.
  • Assist the General Manager in providing guidance and effective coaching to associates for improved performance.
  • Contribute to increasing sales and profitability through conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.

External Key Carrier Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of other managers.
  • In partnership with all associates, ensure regular loss prevention compliance.
  • Perform opening and closing responsibilities, including activation and deactivation of the store's alarm system, cash handling, and daily store balancing.
  • Fulfill responsibilities associated with External Key Carrier designation

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; coursework in Business, Retail Management, or related field a plus
  • 1–3 years related experience; retail, sales, customer-facing, and/or supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable in Technology and Print, including use of relevant equipment and POS systems

  • Strong selling, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and train others; works well independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable using technology and systems to complete daily responsibilities
