Summary

As a Shift Supervisor, you are building your leadership skills and style. You will lead restaurant operations during scheduled shifts and support training for all new hires, program rollouts, and standards in your restaurant. At times, you will be the most senior squad member working the shift, and you will be responsible for ensuring that the team performs all essential tasks, provides outstanding guest experiences, and contributes to smooth restaurant operations. You will support restaurant management in overall restaurant operations and serve as a leader for the squad who work alongside you. You will provide feedback, answer questions, and give guidance. As a Shift Supervisor your objective is to model, teach, and demonstrate MOD’s purpose in all interactions. You are responsible for setting the squad up for success for the shift, during training, and as things change in the restaurant. You will lead by example, focus on directing the squad, and deliver the best possible MOD experience on every shift.

In this position, you will flex to the needs of the restaurant and the squad, sometimes leading, sometimes doing, but always keeping the MOD experience in the forefront of your mind.

Key Responsibilities

As a Shift Supervisor you have an ownership mentality to ensure the restaurant is welcoming, runs smoothly, is clean and organized, and meets MOD’s overall standards. Lead the shift by doing the following key tasks:

  • The Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the right squad member is in the right place and doing the right work to always support guests, we call this deployment. You will need to complete Deployment Charts and make adjustments throughout the day to keep the daily operations running smoothly.
  • As assigned, train newly hired/promoted squad and support the team through new program rollouts and initiatives.
  • As a part of the restaurant leadership team, you will ensure operating systems and equipment are maintained to meet restaurant goals. This includes restaurant equipment and technology like online ordering, catering, fundraising and customer review systems.
  • The Shift Supervisor is responsible for using and referencing MOD tools and standards to ensure the food is safe in both Back of House and Front of House.
  • Listen, acknowledge, and do your best to resolve any squad member and/or guest concerns. Escalate issues that require resolution to the AM or GM as appropriate.
  • Manage cash within the shift in an accurate and responsible manner including making change, accessing cash in the safe, processing refunds, etc.
  • Take inventory and place orders as needed and supported by the GM.
  • Adhere to all Opening/Midday/Closing shift checklists and use all tools available to execute requirements in a timely manner.
  • Regularly review email to stay updated on and communicate any information from the Slice (and other relevant sources) for squad members to be effective in their roles during the shift.
Required Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of customer service or restaurant experience.
  • Must have demonstrated success as a mentor, trainer or informal leader.
  • Have a proven ability to prioritize and make decisions.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Proven success in following and enforcing processes and standards; correcting and coaching in a compassionate manner.
  • Have the ability to be a calming presence in periods of high volume.
  • You must obtain a food safety certification and/or alcohol beverage certification within 30 days of your start date or sooner where required by law.
  • You should be proficient in written and oral communication.
  • Have the ability to support restaurant hours working a minimum of 3 shifts and 18 hours per week. This will include peak demand hours as determined by General Manager or District Manager.
