To thrive as a Respiratory Therapist on contract, you need a solid background in respiratory therapy, typically requiring an associate or bachelor’s degree and state licensure (RRT or CRT credential). Familiarity with ventilators, pulmonary function testing equipment, and electronic health records is essential. Strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and effective communication are critical soft skills for working in diverse clinical environments.
