Job description

Clayton Services is searching for a Tax Resolution Specialist to join a thriving company in the Houston Galleria area. The Tax Resolution Specialist will manage client cases from intake through resolution while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining strict confidentiality. The ideal candidate is organized, resourceful, confident, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced small-business environment.
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $21.00 - $25.00/hour plus commission and bonuses
Benefits: Excellent benefits are available upon successful completion of the temporary period.
Tax Resolution Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for clients regarding IRS notices, tax disputes, balances owed, audits, refund delays, and compliance issues
  • Review and interpret IRS and state tax correspondence and determine appropriate next steps
  • Educate clients on tax processes, timelines, and resolution strategies
  • Gather supporting documentation and coordinate responses to IRS inquiries
  • Prepare and organize case files, transcripts, and supporting documentation
  • Track and manage cases from intake through resolution
  • Monitor deadlines and follow up on pending client matters
  • Communicate with tax preparers, accountants, and management regarding complex tax issues
  • Assist with payment plans, installment agreements, Form 2848, and related documentation
  • Maintain accurate notes within CRM and tax software systems
  • Communicate with IRS and state tax agencies when authorized
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and IRS data security requirements
  • Provide support during peak tax seasons and assist with additional client service activities as needed

  • Working knowledge of:

    • Installment agreements and payment plans
    • Identity theft and IP PIN procedures
    • Individual and business taxation concepts
  • Experience with Drake software or similar tax preparation systems preferred
