Job description

Binkley House is seeking a mature and responsible individual to join our team as a Part-Time Shelter Residential Specialist. In this role, you will work directly with youth navigating life transitions and crisis, providing supervision, support, and positive guidance in a structure residential setting
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and monitor the behavior of shelter residents
  • Positively guide and redirect residents using behavior modifications programs
  • Coordinate and engage youth in recreation activities and games
  • Monitor resident contact with visitors
  • Provide support through teachable moments and appropriate interventions
  • Direct daily chores and assist with meal preparation, ensuring proper nutrition
  • Help residents with academic assignments and daily living skills
  • Conduct security and bed checks as required
  • De-escalate conflicts and maintain a safe, supportive environment
  • Attend staff meetings, fill residential shifts, and assist the Residential Coordinator as needed
  • Fill residential assistant shifts when census in shelter requires
  • Perform additional tasks assigned

Youth Services Bureau is a 24-hour facility. This position may be assigned some overnight shifts, you must be awake during those working hours. Preferred availability incudes, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays.
