Job Description
Own and configure the requirements management (ALM) environment to ensure end-to-end traceability, configuration control, and verification evidence in compliance with DO-178C, DO-254, and ARP4754A for FAA certification. This role provides direction and training to the engineering organization, works directly with PLM, certification, systems engineering, and mechanical engineering teams, and manages the creation and deployment of project and product configurations across multiple programs.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, configure, and maintain the ALM environment including workflows, work item types, custom fields, templates, and process governance
Manage the creation and deployment of project and product configurations across multiple programs, ensuring audit-ready data structures and consistent traceability reporting
Work with PLM and certification teams to ensure the ALM setup complies with DO-178C, DO-254, ARP-4754A, and other applicable aviation standards
Build and maintain end-to-end traceability from stakeholder needs through requirements, design, implementation, and verification evidence to support FAA certification
Provide direction and training to the organization on requirements engineering practices, configuration control, and effective use of ALM tooling
Collaborate with systems engineering and mechanical engineering teams to capture, trace, and verify requirements across disciplines
Configure and maintain integrations between the ALM platform and connected engineering tools (PLM, MBSE, software repositories, test systems) using REST APIs, OSLC, and ReqIF
Build dashboards, reports, and metrics so leadership can see real-time requirements status, verification progress, and program health
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
8+ years of experience in requirements engineering, systems engineering, or ALM tool administration in a regulated environment
Experience building end-to-end traceability structures and verification evidence that satisfy certification and audit requirements
Experience developing training materials and delivering technical training to engineering teams
Strong understanding of configuration control, baseline management, and change management processes
Preferred
INCOSE CSEP, ASEP, or equivalent systems engineering certification
Experience with ARP-4761 or AS9100 in addition to DO-178C/DO-254/ARP-4754A
Familiarity with PLM tools (e.g., Teamcenter) and digital thread integration across ALM, PLM, MBSE, and test environments
Experience with cross-tool integration mechanisms: REST APIs, OSLC-based traceability, and ReqIF-based requirements exchange with suppliers and partners
Experience migrating requirements data between ALM platforms (e.g., DOORS to Polarion)
Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and approaches
Experience with Git, Jira, Confluence, and modern Agile workflows
Security clearance or eligibility to obtain one
Tools & Skills
Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., Polarion, JAMA, DOORS)
Proficiency with ALM platform customization, workflow configuration, and process automation (JavaScript, Velocity templates, REST API)
Experience with Siemens Polarion administration (server setup, workflow configuration, custom fields, project deployment)
Knowledge of structured requirements methodologies (e.g., INCOSE Guide to Writing Requirements or equivalent)
Experience with digital thread architecture and toolchain integration across ALM, PLM, MBSE, software, and test environments
Experience integrating ALM tools with CI/CD pipelines, test management, and version control systems
