Job description

About Upsun (formerly Platform.sh)ย

Upsun is the cloud application platform humans and robots love. It is built for today's hybrid teams, where AI agents write and test code and humans focus on solving the problems that really matter. Developers, DevOps engineers, and platform teams use Upsun to build, ship, and scale confidently without wrestling with backend infrastructure. We give you your time back. You get:

  • Predictable performance, even at scale
  • Secure, compliant environments by defaultย
  • Real-time observability and profiling built in
  • Cloning, configuration, and provisioning in secondsย
  • AI-ready features that plug directly into your stack

The name says it all. "Up" means uptime, reliability, and acceleration. "Sun" reflects our follow-the-sun-support, a 24x7, globally distributed support team keeping the lights on while you rest. Our core belief is that software should power brighter solutions and greater innovation.

Upsunners are a remote, global workforce, and we thrive in a multicultural team. We are committed to open source and an open, welcoming environment. Our team spans the globe and the experience spectrum.

What's our commonality, our cultural fabric? A curious spirit and a thirst for knowledge; an eagerness for innovative ideas and cultures. We believe we can build anything together in an environment that frees you to do your best work.

Our values:ย

We make a positive impact.

We aim for the stars.

We care for each other.ย

Impact of a Senior Solutions Architect

As our Senior Solutions Architect, you will spearhead the go-to-market launch of our new AI-native software development platform. This is a "zero-to-one" role where you will be one of the first faces of the product, bringing deep technical expertise to our initial design partners and translating their feedback into a roadmap for our product and engineering teams.

You will partner in a tight-knit GTM squad, ensuring our technical positioning is sharp and our proofs-of-value are undeniable. By leading technical discovery and solution design, you'll turn early interest into production-grade adoption. Your work will set the foundations; from demo environments to sales playbooks that the broader Customer Solutions and Sales teams will inherit as we scale.

Your deep fluency in modern, agentic engineering workflows and cloud architectures allows you to act as a credible peer to engineering leaders and senior developers. You thrive in the ambiguity of an early-stage launch, balancing high-level strategy with the hands-on execution required to debug an integration or build a compelling technical narrative. Your impact will define how software teams collaborate with AI to ship the next generation of applications.

What to expect
  • Win Early Customers: Own the technical relationship with design partners and prospects. Lead discovery and solution design to turn interest into long-term adoption.

  • Drive the Market Feedback Loop: Serve as the bridge to Product and Engineering by synthesizing customer signals and workflow gaps to drive the product's evolution.

  • Pressure-Test GTM Motion: Partner with Sales to develop the playbook, defining positioning, demo narratives, qualification criteria, and competitive framing based on real-world conversations.

  • Scale the Technical Foundation: Build and maintain demo environments, reference architectures, integration prototypes, and sample code that showcase the product's credibility.

  • Technical Leadership: Act as a peer to senior engineering leaders and executives, delivering tailored technical workshops and briefings alongside handling complex architectural questions, security objections, and RFP-style technical requirements.

  • Knowledge Transfer: As the product matures, hand off processes and assets to the broader organization, ensuring the next wave of SEs can ramp quickly.

What you bring
  • Foundational Solutions Engineering: 7+ years of experience in solutions engineering or architecture at a developer tools, platform, or infrastructure company, with a track record of co-owning revenue.

  • Hands-on Technical Depth: Comfortable writing code and scripting to stand up integrations. You have solid fluency in cloud infrastructure, containerization, and CI/CD.

  • AI-Native Expertise: A deep understanding of how AI is reshaping the SDLC. You have hands-on experience building with AI agents and can speak credibly about prompt optimization and agentic workflows.

  • Pioneer Mindset: Comfort with ambiguity and the proactivity to create clarity in undefined situations. You are a self-starter who drives outcomes without a pre-existing playbook.

  • Compelling Storytelling: Exceptional demo and communication skills; you can take a nascent feature and turn it into a compelling business outcome for a technical audience.

  • Advanced Project Management: Experience juggling multiple high-stakes design partners and internal stakeholders simultaneously.

  • Advanced Project Management: A team-first mindset that allows you to operate autonomously while making those around you better through shared insights and cross-functional alignment.

Bonus
  • Level 5+ AI Adoption: You identify as Level 5 or higher on Steve Yegge's eight levels of AI adoption.

  • Zero-to-One Experience: Proven experience launching a completely new product or category from scratch.
