Category Development Manager, Target

Location: US Remote - Minneapolis, MN

Main Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Target Account Team to drive strategy for new items, promotions, merchandising, and category management (including shelf and POG recommendations).
  • Lead and support retailer-specific research projects, leveraging macro and shopper insights while identifying efficiencies across internal and external efforts.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Target, Opella CHC HQ, and broker partners, managing sales reporting and streamlining reporting processes.
  • Develop and support annual account plans, including BCC recommendations, KPM tactics, and strategies to achieve distribution, merchandising, and promotional objectives.
  • Provide robust analytical support using customer insights and syndicated data (e.g., Numerator) for planning, promotional evaluation, business reviews, and new item tracking.
  • Manage merchandising excellence through effective planogram placement, competitive monitoring, and field-level retail execution.
  • Translate consumer and category trends into actionable insights, supporting new item launches, category leadership initiatives, and proactive responses to customer needs and market opportunities.

About You:

  • B.A. / B.S. degree required. MBA preferred.
  • 5 + years of proven delivery in CPG, preferably within OTC/, both top and bottom-line results required. Excellent business acumen; proficient category, segment knowledge. Target selling experience preferred. RX to OTC switching knowledge preferred.
  • Experience in working on multi-disciplinary teams and managing significant volume of projects.
  • Knowledge of syndicated data sources, Circana preferred, Numerator Insights & Promo Intel, experience in planogram software systems preferred
  • Curiosity and passion for creating breakthrough moments in store merchandising and store operation execution.
  • Promote and lead with direct, honest, and supportive communication
  • Extremely organized, dependable and self-motivated with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
