Miller Dunwiddie is seeking a talented, motivated Director of Business Development to join our team. The ideal candidate is highly experienced in the active development of plans and strategies for growth in sales and outreach in all market sectors and appreciates a business that values work/life balance. As a member of the Leadership Team, they will report to the President/CEO and work with all Market Sector Leaders and the Leadership Team to forecast and execute plans, work with external networks to develop leads and support growth, and support marketing efforts on pursuits across the business.

Experience working in the AEC Industry with familiarity in the local (MN) architecture market is strongly preferred.

Essential Duties
  • Develop and execute firm-wide business development and growth strategies Build client relationships across market sectors Management
  • Provide oversight of Proposal Development and Marketing
  • Partner with market sector leaders on sales and promotions Key Role Responsibilities Business Development/Strategic Growth
  • Serve as a company representative on boards and committees for civic, business, charitable and professional organizations.
  • Research market trends identify potential customers.
  • Develop and execute strategies to identify and target new business opportunities in all market sectors defined by leadership.
  • Conduct research into market trends, demands, and customer bases.
  • Build and maintain an engaged professional network, externally and internally.
  • Create relationships and partnerships with local and national colleagues to support existing and new services.

  • Research competitors’ value propositions to inform awareness of the local market.


Client Relationship Management

  • Create, coordinate and oversee maintenance of CRM System records and reports concerning client contacts and scheduled client solutions activities.
  • Support a robust client outreach program based on identified markets and industry connections.


Proposal Development and Marketing

  • Work with marketing team and market sector leadership to develop and execute sales and marketing plans focused on lead generation, brand awareness, and client retention.
  • Oversee the development of proposals, presentations, and other client communications.
  • Support teams through pursuit phases including interview preparation and follow up


Sales and Promotions

  • Partner with market teams to plan and create presentations to business partners and community organizations.
  • Manage and perform marketing and public relations activities in support of market sectors.
  • Identify opportunities to highlight and expand the firm’s work through case studies, awards, presentations, and client testimonials.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient user of CRM software, including spreadsheet skills of enterprise software
  • Experience leading collaborative project teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and is naturally curious.
  • Communicates effectively and has strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Develops lasting working relationships with colleagues both internally and externally.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction science, marketing, management, or related field (Required).
  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
  • 5+ years of marketing or business development experience in the construction, architecture, or engineering industry (or related field) (Preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience and active involvement in building and maintaining strong engagement with local organizations and relevant industry associations (Preferred).
  • Proven track record of successfully managing prospects and pursuits (Preferred).

Miller Dunwiddie offers competitive salaries that are commensurate with level of experience. The base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000.
