Job description

Vice President of Finance – Specialty Clinic Network

Location: Remote
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Industry: Healthcare Services (Specialty Clinics)
Type: Full-Time | Executive-Level

Our client—a rapidly scaling, physician-led specialty clinic network with centralized operations and multi-site expansion plans—is seeking a strategic and technically adept Vice President of Finance. This role offers full ownership of the finance function and a clear path to CFO for candidates ready to lead with precision and purpose.

As a trusted staffing partner, FOCUSPOINT is looking for candidates who thrive in fast-paced, fee-for-service environments and bring deep expertise in payor-pay business models. This is a high-leverage opportunity to shape financial strategy, optimize revenue cycles, and support clinical growth across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently oversee all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance
  • Perform detailed financial analysis by provider pod, location, and service line—diving into billing reports and EHR data (e.g., eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth) to build precise scenario models
  • Develop and maintain multi-scenario forecasts, annual budgets, cash flow projections, and expansion plans to guide strategic growth
  • Create clear, compelling financial presentations and dashboards for physicians and leadership, translating complex data into actionable insights
  • Prepare polished financial reports, valuation analyses, pitch decks, and M&A due diligence materials for investment banks, buyers, and lenders
  • Ensure robust risk management and regulatory compliance, proactively addressing financial and operational risks in a clinical setting
  • Leverage advanced tools to enhance forecasting accuracy and data-driven decision-making
  • Build strong relationships with physicians and clinical teams to align financial strategies with operational goals, fostering trust and transparency

Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years leading the finance function for a service clinic network
  • Proven success in specialty or multi-specialty clinic settings operating under fee-for-service models
  • Deep background in payor-pay business models and payment cycles (not cash-pay or employer-sponsored)
  • Experience analyzing roll-up service businesses and building financial models for growth and acquisition

Education

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field from a top 30 university preferred
  • MBA or CPA a plus

Technical Skills

  • Strong fundamentals in revenue cycle management, EHR platforms, and billing systems
  • Ability to dive into billing reports to verify accuracy and uncover optimization opportunities
  • Proficiency in accrual models, 3-statement financial modeling, and advanced analytics

Soft Skills

  • Ambitious, energetic, and intellectually curious—ready to grow in scope and responsibility
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and physician leadership

Candidate Filters

  • Do not apply if your experience is primarily in value-based care models (e.g., primary care networks)
  • Candidates from fertility, hormonal, concierge medicine, or other cash-pay clinics are not a fit
  • Traditional FP&A analysts who require rigid structure and low ambiguity will not thrive in this role

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
This is more than a finance role—it’s a strategic seat at the table. The VP of Finance will shape the financial future of a healthcare organization that’s expanding its reach and deepening its impact. If you’re ready to lead with purpose and precision, we want to hear from you.

  • Clear Path to CFO: For rising finance leaders, this role offers a rare opportunity to grow into the Chief Financial Officer position, with mentorship and visibility at the executive level.
  • Strategic Ownership: You’ll have full autonomy to lead and shape the finance function—removing key growth barriers and directly influencing the organization’s trajectory.
  • Operational Leverage: With centralized systems like billing already streamlined, you can focus on high-impact financial strategy, forecasting, and performance optimization.
  • Innovation at Scale: Join the most technologically advanced pulmonary clinic in the region—and the only one with a multi-state footprint—positioned for continued expansion and clinical leadership.
Why FOCUSPOINT

At FOCUSPOINT, we don’t just fill roles—we build longevity. Our approach to executive search in healthcare finance is rooted in precision, transparency, and strategic alignment. We understand that the Vice President of Finance isn’t just a numbers expert—they’re a steward of mission, margin, and momentum.
