Overview

Edgewater is seeking a highly experienced Senior VOIP Engineer to lead VoIP initiatives and drive innovation within our customer's organization. As a Senior VOIP Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of VoIP, including the development of resilient telephony environments, implementation of VoIP Zero Trust Architecture, and integration of advanced voice and video telephony solutions. You will play a critical role in right-sizing staff, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring operational excellence across our VoIP infrastructure. This is a leadership position that offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our organization's communication capabilities. We seek a dedicated professional for a role that involves frequent travel to job locations within a 25-mile radius of UCOR's main office in Oak Ridge, TN.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of resilient and robust telephony environments for remote work and advanced technologies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of VoIP business processes, software/applications, and infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement VoIP Zero Trust Architecture and IPv6 Architecture.
  • Oversee the replacement, upgrade, design, and integration of Voice and Video telephony solutions.
  • Configure and deploy IP Voice and Video conference room capabilities.
  • Collaborate with SIP providers for number allocation, SIP trunking, and security assessment.
  • Ensure 24/7 operational functionality and system security through routine Operation and Maintenance tasks.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on VoIP technologies and best practices.
  • May require working extended, irregular, or non-standard hours to support mission-critical duties.
Qualifications

Education, Training, Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent, relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in VoIP engineering or related role, with at least 2 years in a leadership position.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA Voice, CCNP Voice, or equivalent preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Expert-level knowledge of telephony environments, routing, and dial plans.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, security principles, and VoIP architectures.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing VoIP solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and drive projects to completion.
  • The ideal candidate will have reliable transportation. Responsibilities include visiting client sites, conducting on-site assessments, and ensuring service delivery.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and foster collaborations among colleagues.
  • Self-directed, results-oriented, and flexible; works well under pressure and adheres to deadlines.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of an organization.
