Job description

Lead VoIP / Unified Communications Engineer

Chicago, IL – Onsite

Base Salary: $150K–$160K

No Remote

No Sponsorship offered

I’m conducting a confidential search for a Lead VoIP / Unified Communications Engineer to join a highly respected, mission-driven organization in Chicago that is making a significant investment in modernizing its technology infrastructure.

This is much more than a VoIP support role.

We are looking for a senior-level voice engineer who can remain technically hands-on while becoming a trusted technical leader and right hand to infrastructure leadership.

The environment includes enterprise voice, VoIP PBX, SIP trunking, Call Center technologies, e911, eFax, voicemail and the underlying network infrastructure required to deliver highly available voice services.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the design, implementation and support of enterprise voice infrastructure
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for complex VoIP and telecommunications issues
  • Support VoIP PBX, SIP trunking and Contact Center technologies
  • Lead complex voice and infrastructure projects
  • Mentor and provide technical direction to other engineers
  • Work closely with vendors and internal technology teams
  • Help establish technical standards and procedures
  • Monitor and improve voice infrastructure performance and reliability
  • Participate in the continued modernization of a large enterprise infrastructure environment

Ideal Background:

  • 5+ years of enterprise VoIP/voice engineering experience
  • Strong Avaya or comparable enterprise voice technology
  • VoIP PBX and SIP trunking expertise
  • Contact Center / Call Center experience
  • Strong understanding of networking and QoS
  • Experience supporting large, complex, mission-critical environments
  • Technical leadership or mentoring experience
  • Healthcare experience is helpful but not required
  • Cisco knowledge is highly desirable

The right person will be someone who enjoys being in the weeds technically but also wants greater leadership visibility and influence.

This is an onsite Chicago opportunity with a long-term opportunity to play an important role in a significant infrastructure transformation.

Please message me directly if you'd like to learn more or know someone who could be a fit.
