What is a Remote User Acceptance Tester?

A Remote User Acceptance Tester is a professional who works from a remote location to test software or applications before they are released to end users. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that the product meets the specified requirements and functions as expected in real-world scenarios. They simulate user behavior, document issues, and provide feedback to developers to help improve the final product. This role is crucial in identifying bugs and usability issues that may not have been caught during earlier testing phases. Remote User Acceptance Testers typically collaborate with project managers, QA teams, and clients using online tools.

To thrive as a Remote User Acceptance Tester, you need a solid understanding of software testing principles, familiarity with business requirements, and strong analytical skills, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Experience with test management tools like JIRA, QA automation platforms, and knowledge of UAT processes or ISTQB certification are typically required. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate virtually with cross-functional teams make someone stand out in this position. These skills ensure that software products meet user needs and business objectives before release, reducing costly post-launch issues.

Job description

E-logic is seeking a highly qualified User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Manager to lead comprehensive software testing efforts supporting a major state government health and human services platform. In this role, you will oversee the UAT lifecycle for the Arkansas Integrated Eligibility System (ARIES), which manages critical eligibility and benefit issuance for programs such as Medicaid, CHIP, SNAP, and TEA. As the primary vendor point of contact, you will interface directly with State UAT Leadership, manage a dedicated team of UAT Leads and Testers, and ensure all deliverables align with CMS Testing Framework standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall direction to the vendor UAT team and closely collaborate with the State UAT Manager and project stakeholders.
  • Author, maintain, and execute a comprehensive UAT Project Plan detailing onboarding, tools training, policy reviews, and eligibility application training timelines.
  • Review and approve all test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure 100% compliance with system designs.
  • Oversee the team's use of key technical tools including SpiraPlan, JIRA, Smart Bear, SoapUI, Selenium, and various database management platforms.
  • Deliver comprehensive weekly status reports (covering accomplishments, resources, risks, and blockers) and lead monthly contract reviews.
  • Facilitate technical workshops, presentation reviews, and "tell, show, do" shadowing sessions during system transition phases.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience working on relevant projects supporting state human service programs (e.g., Medicaid, CHIP, SNAP, or TEA).
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous UAT experience on at least one massive eligibility engagement that supported multiple concurrent benefit programs.
  • Proven background in managing technical software testing teams within a government contracting framework.

Important Notice:

This role is part of a proposal for Arkansas Integrated Eligibility System (ARIES). Hiring is contingent upon the selection of the consultant. Selected candidates will be included in the proposal and must authorize the use of their resume for submission.
