Position Overview

Avella Behavioral Health Center is actively looking for a dedicated and skilled Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is committed to providing compassionate and effective trauma-informed care. This full-time position includes the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to deliver essential mental health services to individuals who have faced significant trauma. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing treatment plans and facilitating therapeutic interventions that promote healing and resilience.

About the Organization

At Avella Behavioral Health Center, we pride ourselves on creating a welcoming and supportive outpatient environment for individuals dealing with trauma-related disorders. Our mission is to empower trauma survivors through specialized mental health services that address conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Our seasoned team of professionals is dedicated to fostering hope and recovery, utilizing cutting-edge evidence-based practices to better serve our clients.

Work Environment

As a remote position, this role offers a unique work setting that combines the comfort of home with the professionalism of an outpatient office. You will engage with clients through Telehealth platforms, ensuring accessibility while maintaining a warm and supportive environment for therapeutic work. Our flexibility in scheduling accommodates patients' varying needs, and team communications flourish through digital tools that promote collaboration and support among staff members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive trauma-informed assessments to elucidate patients' trauma histories and formulate personalized treatment plans that prioritize their recovery journey.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), tailored to individual client needs.
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, fostering a safe space for clients to express emotions, build coping strategies, and embark on their healing processes.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and integrated care for clients.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and support for clients experiencing trauma-related emergencies, applying de-escalation techniques and rapid assessment skills.
  • Educate clients and their families about trauma responses, available resources, and effective coping mechanisms to enhance their understanding and management of symptoms.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring sustained quality of care.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, case consultations, and professional development sessions focused on trauma-informed practices and their implementation.
  • Stay informed about the latest research and advancements within the field of trauma therapy, integrating new findings into clinical practice where applicable.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The ideal candidate will be skilled in working with a diverse clientele, including adults experiencing PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Our clients often seek refuge from intense emotional distress shaped by their traumatic experiences. Your role will focus on fostering a therapeutic alliance that enhances trust and openness, which are critical for effective healing.

Qualifications
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience in mental health counseling or therapy, particularly with trauma-affected populations.
  • In-depth knowledge of trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment methodologies, with a demonstrated ability to implement resilience-focused interventions.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, characterized by compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach to therapy.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms to track client progress and facilitate remote sessions.
  • A collaborative mindset, ready to engage within a multidisciplinary team structure for holistic care delivery.
Preferred Experience

While a minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is required, candidates with prior work specifically in trauma recovery and familiarity with popular trauma-focused therapies will be highly regarded. Experience providing services in remote settings is also beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $90,000 to $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Our benefits package includes a comprehensive healthcare plan, a retirement savings plan with employer matching, generous paid time off (PTO), and holiday pay. Additionally, we provide professional liability insurance and ongoing continuing education support to enhance your skills and career development.
