Job description

At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader - we're changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We're committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts.

Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work - every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet.

Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers - and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

About the team and the role:

An eBay subsidiary, TCGplayer is on a quest to be the most trusted trading card game (TCG) platform - connecting and empowering the hobby community. Trading card games are a $25B global market that creates community connection through in-person games (Pokemon; Magic: The Gathering; YuGiOh; etc.). Founded by TCG enthusiasts, we operate a global marketplace, and create tools, technologies and solutions that help small businesses profitably sell TCGs at scale.

As a UX Design Manager, you will lead and develop a team of designers focused on creating exceptional Seller Experiences across the TCGplayer platform. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and business leaders to define and deliver user-centered solutions that help sellers efficiently grow and manage their businesses. In this role, you will drive design strategy, elevate design quality, and influence product direction through customer insights, data, and experimentation. You will foster a high-performing team culture, mentor designers at all levels, and champion design excellence while ensuring experiences align with both user needs and business objectives.

Our User Experience Design team prides itself on creating a culture that fosters camaraderie, embraces diversity, and exudes passion. We value curiosity, craft, and a desire to directly interact with the real world. You don't have to be a hobbyist or gamer to love working in TCGplayer's UX Design organization, but you should be comfortable with ambiguity and eager to amplify our steadfast commitment to making hobbies and games accessible, fun, and rewarding for everyone. If you're equal parts "empathy" and "ambition," this is an opportunity to take risks and stretch yourself, surrounded by teammates who will support you along the way.

What you will accomplish:

  • Lead design strategy and execution across Seller Experiences, turning ambiguous problems into clear, actionable UX direction

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Research, and business leaders to shape priorities and deliver solutions that improve seller outcomes and support business goals

  • Raise the quality bar by guiding work from early concepts through wireframes, prototypes, and final specifications within design systems and at a high quality standard

  • Coach, mentor, and develop designers through regular feedback, strong expectations, and a high-performing team culture

  • Use research, testing, and experimentation to validate design decisions, influence product strategy, and build alignment with leadership

  • Build deep expertise in the seller, marketplace, and eCommerce landscape, sharing insights that inform innovation and inspire the team

What you will bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in UX, Product, or Experience Design, including experience leading teams and delivering impactful customer and business outcomes in complex product environments.

  • 3+ years of people management experience that includes hiring, coaching, developing, and retaining high-performing design teams.

  • Ability to define and drive design strategy across large product areas, translating customer needs, business objectives, and technical constraints into a clear vision and roadmap.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in user-centered design, systems thinking, and end-to-end product development, including examples of measurable business and customer impact.

  • Proven track record of implementing effective team and cross-functional processes that improve operational efficiency, strengthen partnerships, raise the quality and consistency of delivered experiences, and enable teams to scale their impact.

  • Experience influencing product direction and organizational decision-making through research, data, experimentation, and compelling communication.

  • Demonstrated success building strong cross-functional partnerships with Product, Engineering, Research, Content Design, and business partners to align teams around shared outcomes.

  • Experience leading teams through ambiguity, balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term experience vision and platform scalability.

  • Deep understanding of design systems, accessibility, and UX standards across web and mobile experiences.

  • Strong communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting work and strategic recommendations to senior leaders and executives.

  • Experience in eCommerce, marketplaces, seller tools, SaaS, fintech, or other complex product ecosystems is preferred. Be specific and succinct about role requirements including technical skills, language proficiency, and / or certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with leading AI tools and examples of how you've integrated them into your workflow to generate concepts, improve efficiency, or improve quality

  • Familiarity with the gaming, hobby, or collectibles community - particularly trading card games

  • Experience and knowledge of shipping, logistics, and fulfillment operations
