Remote Talent Development information

What is remote talent development?

Remote talent development refers to the strategies, processes, and programs organizations use to nurture, train, and advance their employees who work outside a traditional office setting. This includes virtual training sessions, online learning platforms, mentorship, coaching, and performance management, all tailored for remote teams. The goal is to ensure remote employees have equitable opportunities for growth, skill development, and career advancement, despite not being physically present in the workplace.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote talent development professional?

To excel in Remote Talent Development, you typically need expertise in training design, facilitation, and organizational development, often backed by a degree in human resources or a related field. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), virtual collaboration tools, and certifications like CPLP or SHRM-CP is highly valued. Strong communication, adaptability, and emotional intelligence are crucial for engaging remote employees and fostering a positive learning culture. These skills ensure effective talent growth, employee engagement, and alignment with organizational goals in a distributed work environment.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote talent development roles, and how can they effectively overcome them?

Professionals in remote talent development often face challenges such as maintaining engagement in virtual training sessions, building rapport with distributed teams, and ensuring consistent communication across time zones. To overcome these hurdles, it’s essential to leverage interactive digital tools, design collaborative learning experiences, and establish clear communication channels. Regular feedback, adapting content for remote delivery, and fostering a culture of continuous learning can also help remote talent development specialists drive successful outcomes and support employee growth.

Job description

Innovation Starts With You.

Business Development Executive

Full time - Permanent Position / Remote

Job Role:

As a Business Development Executive you will identify target accounts, engage senior stakeholders, uncover business problems, and create credible sales opportunities across a broad portfolio that includes custom learning solutions, AI-powered roleplay, immersive AR/VR training, training delivery services, and learning-transformation consulting.

The ideal candidate will prospect independently, develop account-entry strategies, conduct effective cold calls, build multichannel outreach sequences, and convert initial conversations into well-qualified discovery meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality outbound prospecting through cold calls, email, LinkedIn, events, referrals, and coordinated multichannel sequences.
  • Create personalized outreach that connects CGS capabilities to a prospect's business priorities rather than relying on generic product messaging.
  • Build and continuously optimize Outreach sequences by industry, persona, use case, and level of buying intent.
  • Convert cold conversations into credible discovery meetings by establishing relevance quickly and asking commercially meaningful questions.
  • Follow up consistently and professionally while recognizing when an opportunity should be advanced, nurtured, recycled, or disqualified.
  • Maintain a healthy balance of high-value strategic accounts and shorter-cycle opportunities.
  • Conduct initial discovery conversations to understand the prospect's business environment, performance challenges, current approach, stakeholders, urgency, and decision process.
  • Translate early conversations into clear opportunity hypotheses for the Account Executive and solution team.
  • Qualify opportunities using a structured methodology such as MEDDPICC or an equivalent enterprise-sales framework.
  • Identify the business problem, measurable impact, compelling event, potential champion, decision criteria, decision process, competition, and next step.
  • Distinguish genuine buying interest from research activity, curiosity, or low-probability engagement.
  • Create complete, accurate handoffs to Account Executives, including stakeholder context, discovery findings, commercial potential, risks, and agreed next actions.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in B2B business development, sales development, enterprise prospecting, or a comparable revenue-generating role.
  • A proven record of generating pipeline through self-sourced outbound activity.
  • Strong cold-calling ability, including experience reaching managers, directors, vice presidents, and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Experience building and managing multichannel prospecting sequences.
  • Ability to sell or position both straightforward services and complex, consultative solutions.
  • Experience working with a modern sales technology stack, including CRM, sales engagement, prospecting, and collaboration platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct structured early-stage discovery and identify commercially relevant business problems.
  • Strong account-research, stakeholder-mapping, and organizational skills.
  • Evidence of resilience, personal accountability, coachability, and consistent execution.
  • Sound judgment regarding when to pursue, nurture, reposition, or disqualify an account.

Nice to have Qualifications:

  • Experience using Salesforce and Outreach.
  • Experience using ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, intent data, or similar account-intelligence tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience selling enterprise learning, SaaS, professional services, technology, consulting, AI, HR technology, or transformation solutions.
  • Familiarity with Learning and Development, talent development, sales enablement, workforce transformation, customer experience, operations, or safety training.
  • Experience prospecting into large enterprise accounts with multiple stakeholders and extended decision cycles.
  • Familiarity with MEDDPICC, Challenger, Command of the Message, Sandler, or another structured sales methodology.

Benefits:

A comprehensive benefits package (Health, Dental, Life Insurance and RRSP).

  • Remote work from home (available options).
  • The opportunity for career growth and development.
  • A collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Salary:

  • Salary: 50-000 - 70,000 CAD Annually.
  • Incentives.

CGS evaluates compensation individually for each selected applicant. Final salary placement within our established parameters is based on multiple criteria, including regional market rates, internal equity considerations, cost-of-living geography, and candidate-specific attributes like professional experience, education, and technical skill sets.

Furthermore, team members may have access to performance-based incentive structures and performance metrics designed to offer additional earning potential based on business growth.
