School Summary

Great River Connections Academy (GRCA) is a tuition-free public online eSchool serving students in grades K-12 throughout Ohio beginning in the 2018-19 school year. GRCA is authorized by the Ohio Council of Community Schools and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated through a contract with Connections Academy of Ohio, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by AdvancED.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Working from our Columbus, OH office or a home office within the state, the Interventionist will support grades K-5 within GRCAโ€™s Response to Intervention (RTI) Model. This role is responsible for supporting students, parents, and staff to ensure successful academic progress in both literacy and mathematics.

The Interventionist will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

  • Data-Driven Instruction: Analyze student learning data consistently to identify students requiring tiered support in reading and math.
  • Direct Student Support: Provide diagnostic, prescriptive, and evaluative services, including individual and small-group instruction.
  • Collaborative Planning: Confer with instructional staff to provide suggestions for effective interventions, discrete skill instruction, and alternate curricular approaches.
  • Resource & Modeling: Act as a resource teacher by modeling effective teaching techniques and assisting in the selection of materials for both reading and math programs.
  • Testing Assistance: Support the administration of state reading and math tests, as well as other required state exams.
  • Documentation: Develop and update Reading Improvement Plans (RIMPs) and Math Improvement Plans, while keeping all student records and contact logs up-to-date.
  • Virtual Engagement: Use asynchronous and synchronous web conferencing to support the instructional program and develop virtual methods for maintaining a "school community".
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certification: Appropriately certified in Ohio for K-5 Elementary, Reading, English, or Math.
  • Endorsements: A Reading Endorsement is required.
  • Specialized Training: Preference is given to candidates with Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or other specialized literacy training.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong technology skills, particularly with Microsoft OS, MS Office, and Google Suite.
  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to travel occasionally for marketing or state testing events.
  • Remote Work: Must have the ability to work remotely and use a personal device for required two-step authentication.
  • Two-step authentication is required to access all systems and may require the use of a personal device
