Job description

TITLE: Senior Implementation Specialist
POSITION TYPE: Full Time - W2 Employee
LOCATION: Remote (May require some travel)
Overview:
The Senior Implementation Specialist is a subject-matter expert in ERP/accounting system implementations, AP workflow optimization, and payments management best practices. This role will lead complex client projects, serve as a strategic advisor to finance leadership, and guide clients through the full adoption and optimization of the onPhase platform.
Acting as both a technical and functional consultant, the Senior Implementation Specialist will partner closely with CFOs, Controllers, AP leaders, and internal teams to ensure seamless delivery, operational readiness, and measurable business outcomes. This position also includes mentoring junior teammates, managing elevated project risks, and contributing to continuous improvement across the Implementations function.
Duties:
  • Lead complex client implementations, ensuring accurate ERP/AP configurations, successful integrations, and alignment with accounting and payments best practices.
  • Apply a consultative approach to AP workflow design, payments optimization, controls, and compliance.
  • Partner directly with senior finance stakeholders-including CFOs, Controllers, and AP Directors-to guide strategic adoption and measurable process improvements.
  • Manage the end-to-end project lifecycle for multiple concurrent large implementations, including discovery, requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, training, and go-live.
  • Serve as an escalation point for major risks, issues, and scope changes; provide mitigation strategies to protect timeline and delivery quality.
  • Mentor and support implementation team members, providing guidance on technical problem-solving, project structure, and client management.
  • Deliver executive-level reporting and visibility into project progress, timelines, risks, and outcomes.
  • Develop and refine implementation best-practice playbooks, templates, and training materials to ensure delivery excellence and consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, and Support to influence product roadmap decisions and service delivery enhancements.
  • Maintain accountability for time-to-implement metrics, on-time go-live performance, client satisfaction, and adoption KPIs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; preferred in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or Business Technology.
  • 5+ years of software implementation experience, preferably in ERP, accounting systems, or AP/payments automation.
  • Deep understanding of AP processes, invoice coding/approval workflows, and payments execution (ACH, checks, vCards, wires, cross-border).
  • Hands-on ERP configuration and integration experience (NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, Sage, etc.).
  • Strong technical skills, with familiarity in SQL, APIs, scripting, or system configuration to support advanced implementations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale projects, balancing detailed execution with strategic outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders and driving adoption across finance organizations.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business language.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring or coaching junior team members.
  • Results-driven, with a track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and aligned with measurable business goals.
