    • Englewood Data Center
    • Aurora Data Center

Job Description – Data Center Smart Hands Engineer (4 Openings)

Location: Denver, Colorado, USA (Englewood & Aurora Data Centers – Flexential)
Work Model: Onsite/Hybrid

Must clearly show hands-on data center work (not theoretical)
Prior experience in smart hands / field support roles is highly preferred
Verify willingness for on-call support and travel

Role Overview

We are looking for Data Center Smart Hands Engineers based in Denver, Colorado, who can support data center operations by executing hands-on technical tasks under the guidance of remote Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).

This role is ideal for individuals with strong data center operational skills who are capable of following detailed instructions and ensuring timely execution of infrastructure-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform rack and stack activities, including installation and decommissioning of hardware
  • Handle cabling (copper/fiber) and ensure proper connectivity and labeling
  • Configure and apply management IPs as per provided instructions
  • Execute hardware-related tasks across a wide variety of devices (servers, network, storage)
  • Act as remote hands ("smart hands") for SMEs by following detailed technical instructions
  • Troubleshoot basic infrastructure issues and escalate when required
  • Maintain proper documentation and update task completion status
  • Support data center operations and maintenance activities
  • Participate in on-call support outside regular business hours

Mandatory Skills (Strict Screening Criteria)

  • Strong hands-on experience in Data Center Operations
  • Proven experience in:
    • Rack & Stack
    • Structured Cabling (Fiber & Copper)
    • Hardware Installation (Servers / Network / Storage devices)
    • Applying / Configuring Management IPs
  • Ability to execute detailed instructions from remote SMEs accurately and independently
  • Willingness to work in a "Smart Hands" support model

Work Requirements

  • Availability during standard business hours (9 AM – 5 PM)
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation for off-hours support
  • Ability to travel domestically within the USA when required (primarily):
    • Dallas, TX
    • Michigan (GHQ)

Preferred Skills (Good to Have)

  • Exposure to enterprise Data Center providers (e.g., Flexential or similar)
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Networking concepts
    • Server hardware lifecycle processes
  • Experience working in remote support / guided execution environments
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with remote SMEs

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3–8 years of relevant experience in Data Center Operations / Infrastructure Support
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT / Engineering (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
