Remote Sleep Consultants and Pediatric Sleep Consultants both focus on improving sleep habits but differ mainly in their target clients. Remote Sleep Consultants typically work with clients of all ages, offering general sleep coaching, while Pediatric Sleep Consultants specialize in helping children and infants with sleep issues. Credentials overlap in sleep training certifications, but Pediatric Sleep Consultants often require additional pediatric health knowledge. Both roles are primarily remote and serve similar industries, but their client focus distinguishes them.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Sleep Consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Sleep Consultant, you need knowledge of sleep science, child development, and behavioral coaching, often supported by certification in sleep consulting or a related field. Familiarity with virtual communication platforms, scheduling software, and secure client management systems is typically required. Excellent listening, empathy, and clear communication skills help build trust and deliver tailored guidance to families remotely. These competencies ensure effective support, foster client satisfaction, and maximize positive sleep outcomes in a virtual setting.

What is a remote sleep consultant?

A remote sleep consultant is a professional who helps individuals or families address sleep challenges and improve sleep habits through virtual means, such as phone calls, video chats, or online programs. Their clients are often parents seeking help with their children's sleep routines, but adults with sleep difficulties may also consult them. By assessing sleep patterns and problems, they create personalized sleep plans and provide ongoing guidance and support. Working remotely allows them to assist clients from any location, making their services widely accessible. Many remote sleep consultants have certifications in sleep consulting or related fields.

What are some common challenges faced by remote sleep consultants when supporting clients virtually?

One common challenge for remote sleep consultants is building rapport and trust with clients without in-person interaction, which can require extra effort in communication and empathy. Additionally, consultants may need to adapt their strategies to various family dynamics and home environments that they only see virtually. Ensuring consistent follow-up and accountability can also be more difficult remotely, so strong organizational skills and regular check-ins are important for supporting clients successfully.

Job description

About Huckleberry

At Huckleberry, our purpose is simple yet powerful: to build life-changing products and experiences that help all families unlock everyday magic.

Today, more than 5 million families trust Huckleberry and our app to be their partner through parenthood. Real pediatric expertise works hand-in-hand with data science, AI, and behavioral science to provide support behind-the-scenes that guides every parent through their unique journey.ย

We believe every family should feel taken care ofโ€”which is why weโ€™re growing quickly and expanding our product offerings to help every family thrive.

About the role
ย
This is different from what you may do in a more traditional sleep consulting practice. Rather than providing in-person or phone 1-on-1 consults (donโ€™t get us wrong, we highly recommend them, but we aim to fill an affordability gap so that more families can access sleep expertise), we provide custom sleep plans that are based on data the parent provides via sleep logs and an adaptive questionnaire.
ย
This is the perfect job for those who want to improve lives, while also having the flexibility to take care of their own.
ย
Weโ€™re looking for that special person who is an expert on childrenโ€™s sleep, has perfect written English, has a logical mind, can interpret data and charts efficiently, and empathizes with tired parents.
ย
This is an open-ended contract with flexible hours between 10 - 20 per week.
Responsiblities
  • Review and assess client data and their associated recommendations through our web portal
  • Efficiently review and modify sleep plans
  • Write recommendations
  • Provide in-app support to clients
  • Troubleshoot sleep issues
ย
Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree or higher
  • At least 1-year experience as a sleep consultant with one-on-one clients in the range of newborn to 5 years old
  • Excellent written English and communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively interpret data and charts
  • Must be accepting of different approaches to sleep--we support different parenting styles and believe that the right approach is only right if it fits the parentโ€™s goals and needs
  • Must have your own reliable high-speed internet and computer
ย
Compensation:
  • Hourly rate: $30 per hour, rising to $35 per hour after initial training and meeting certain criteria
