About the Team

The Standards Solutions function translates B Lab's standards into practical pathways for business action and impact. Through certification, B Impact, and a growing portfolio of standards-based products and services, it enables businesses to understand, implement, demonstrate and continuously improve against B Lab's standards while safeguarding the credibility, integrity and financial sustainability of the certification system. The function provides business leadership for B Corps Certification and B Impact as the primary platform through which businesses engage with B Lab's standards. Working closely with Product and Technology, it shapes the business requirements that ensure B Impact supports certification, continuous improvement and future standards-based solutions, becoming the digital foundation of B Lab's impact ecosystem. Working across Standards Development, Product, Customer Experience and Growth, the function creates integrated, customer-centred pathways that are accessible, scalable and efficient. It balances customer experience, commercial sustainability, operational excellence and standards integrity to expand adoption while maintaining the rigour and trust that underpin B Lab's standards. The function also develops complementary products, services and strategic partnerships that extend the reach of B Lab's standards and help businesses continuously improve their impact over time. In doing so, it plays a central role in advancing B Lab's mission by converting ambitious standards into measurable business action, continuous improvement and positive impact at scale. The function succeeds when businesses can confidently adopt and continuously improve against B Lab's standards through trusted, scalable experiences that deliver stronger customer outcomes, operational excellence, sustainable growth and greater positive impact.

About the Opportunity

B Lab is seeking a Standards Solutions Director to lead one of the organisation's most strategically important business verticals, responsible for scaling the adoption of B Lab's standards through certification, B Impact, and a growing portfolio of standards-based products and services. The role provides business leadership for B Impact as the primary platform through which businesses engage with B Lab's standards, working closely with Product and Technology to shape its evolution as the digital foundation of B Lab's impact ecosystem. The role is accountable for the commercial, operational and strategic performance of the Standards Solutions portfolio, including growing certification and recertification, expanding standards-based products and services, improving delivery efficiency, and safeguarding the credibility, integrity and long-term sustainability of B Lab's standards and certification system. The successful candidate will combine deep expertise in certification, standards, assurance or compliance with strong commercial, operational and customer leadership. They will be an entrepreneurial and strategic leader with a proven track record of scaling complex, customer-centred businesses, products or SaaS-enabled services while balancing growth, operational excellence and mission.

Core Responsibilities

Standards Adoption Strategy [30%]

  • Develop and lead the strategy for scaling adoption of B Lab's standards through certification, B Impact, and a growing portfolio of standards-based products and services.
  • Define the strategic direction for B Impact as the primary platform through which organisations engage with B Lab's standards, working closely with Product and Technology to shape business priorities and customer value.
  • Identify opportunities to expand standards adoption across customer segments, markets, products, services, and strategic partnerships.
  • Translate B Lab's standards into practical, scalable pathways that enable organisations to understand, implement, demonstrate, and continuously improve against the standards.
  • Balance customer accessibility, commercial sustainability, operational efficiency, and standards integrity across the Certification & Standards Solutions portfolio.
  • Partner with Standards Development, Growth, Product, Technology, and Customer Experience to ensure certification, B Impact, and standards-based solutions evolve as a coherent, integrated ecosystem that advances B Lab's mission.

Certification & Improvement Journey [30%]

  • Lead the end-to-end certification and improvement journey across certification, recertification and standards-adjacent services.
  • Improve customer progression, completion rates, adoption and readiness across the journey.
  • Ensure delivery models are clear, consistent and customer-centred while maintaining standards integrity.
  • Partner with Customer Experience to reduce friction, improve guidance and increase customer confidence.
  • Ensure certification and improvement pathways support continuous improvement rather than one-off compliance.

Business Performance & Operational Excellence [20%]

  • Own the commercial, operational and financial performance of the Standards Solutions vertical, ensuring sustainable growth, delivery excellence and standards integrity.
  • Develop scalable operating models supported by automation, standardised processes, data and clear performance metrics to improve efficiency, quality and customer outcomes.
  • Drive improvements in throughput, service quality, customer responsiveness, cost-to-serve and operational resilience.
  • Partner with Product and Technology to evolve B Impact and supporting operational capabilities, including workflow automation, data visibility and digital tools that enable scalable certification and standards solutions.
  • Use operational and commercial data to identify opportunities to improve adoption, customer value, financial performance and organisational effectiveness.

Portfolio Growth & Market Development [20%]

  • Drive the sustainable growth of certification, B Impact and standards-based products and services through commercial innovation, strategic partnerships and market development.
  • Partner with Growth and Finance to shape pricing, packaging, customer value propositions, revenue forecasting and commercial models that support long-term sustainability.
  • Develop partnerships with assurance providers, regional organisations and ecosystem partners that expand market reach while protecting the credibility and integrity of B Lab's standards.
  • Support the development and commercialisation of new standards-based products and services that help organisations understand, implement and continuously improve against B Lab's standards.
  • Represent B Lab externally as a recognised leader in certification, standards implementation and standards-based solutions, strengthening the organisation's reputation and influence.

Major Objectives/Project for the role in the first 6-12 months

  • Define the Standards Solutions strategy and operating model.
  • Establish clear metrics for certification volume, recertification volume, customer progression, cost-to-serve and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify the largest sources of customer friction and operational inefficiency in the certification journey.
  • Develop a roadmap for scalable, increasingly automated Standards adoption delivery.
  • Partner with Growth and Product to define priority adjacent products and services.

Success Measures

  • Increased standards adoption across certification and adjacent products/services.
  • Growth in certification and recertification volumes.
  • Reduced customer friction, drop-off and cost-to-serve.
  • Scalable, financially sustainable operations that balance revenue growth with delivery efficiency.
  • High-quality delivery that strengthens standards credibility and customer trust.
  • Clear adoption pathways that support both certification and continuous improvement.
About You

We encourage you to apply if you have:

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in certification, standards, assurance, compliance, SaaS, platform or sustainability-related services.

  • Strong understanding of digital product environments and agile or product-led ways of working.
  • Proven ability to work across governance, operations, product, commercial and customer-facing teams.

While not required these skills and experiences would be great to have:

  • Experience with sustainability standards, ESG frameworks, management systems certification, audit or assurance.
