POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Lehigh Valley seeks a Director of Athletics and Recreation to provide leadership for the campus intercollegiate athletics, club sports, and recreation and wellness programs. The Director oversees all aspects of the athletics and recreation program and serves as a member of the Student Affairs leadership team, reporting to the Director of Student Affairs.

Penn State Lehigh Valley is a member of the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) and supports varsity athletics within a predominantly commuter campus environment. Penn State Lehigh Valley currently sponsors six varsity sports, with plans to expand its athletic offerings over time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leadership and administration of varsity athletics, club sports, and recreation programs
  • Supervision and development of athletics staff and coaches
  • Oversight of recruitment strategies and student athlete success and retention
  • Budget management, including Student Initiated Fee and Student Activity Fee resources
  • Compliance with Penn State, conference, and regulatory requirements
  • Facilities scheduling, game management, safety, and risk management.
  • Developing new revenue sources to support the growth of athletics
  • Collaboration with campus partners and community stakeholders
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student development

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in athletics or recreation
  • Experience with staff supervision and budget oversight
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Experience at a Commonwealth Campus or similar institution
  • Knowledge of PSUAC or comparable athletic conferences

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 8+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $68,200.00 - $102,300.00.
