Overview

***This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP***

Under the direction of the MWR Manager, provides functional and supervisory leadership to the staff at assigned recreation facilities, associated processes, and programs. Interfaces with internal and external customers/management to address and resolve customer support issues. Accomplishes leadership and administrative tasks required to ensure effective contractor services customer support to LOGCAP. Shall exercise considerable initiative and judgment in the day-to-day supervision and administration of recreation facilities operations. Performs other related duties as assigned. Supervises recreation facilities, programs, services, and a diverse, multicultural workforce in providing contractual requirements to the community.


Responsibilities

  • Supervises recreation facilities, programs, services and a diverse, multi-cultural work force in providing contractual requirements to the community. Supervises the activities of a diverse staff within MWR recreation operations.
  • Interviews and recommends candidates for open positions. Coaches staff on a daily basis, for training, problem-solving and continuous improvement. Prepares performance appraisals as required. Recommends employees for recognition and incentive awards. Prepares and issues disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Plans, develops, implements and evaluates comprehensive recreation programs and services.
  • Continuously monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures. Ensures a high level of program standards are upheld and followed.
  • Conducts training of staff in all Recreation facilities operations covering job skill orientation and development, work procedures, customer service, safety, fire and emergency procedures, Performance Work Statement / Technical Exhibits / contractual requirements, facilities security, property control, supply management and cross-training within MWR.
  • Assigns and delegates functions, tasks, projects and special assignments to subordinates. Employs a collaborative approach to foster open communication among team members; conducts regular team meeting to focus and engage staff members.
  • Maintains and controls property assigned to functional areas. Utilizes knowledge of lifecycle replacement and schedules to request/requisition required supplies and equipment. Ensures that supply inventories and consumption records are tracked and maintained.
  • Works in close coordination with the MWR Programs Manager, other supervisors, Leads, and appropriate external agencies to create a continuous flow of information regarding MWR operations.
  • Interfaces with designated Government Representatives and other contractor elements to assure smooth operations and compliance with government directives, standards and needs.
  • Develops and maintains an annual activities planning calendar for training and quality objectives.
  • Develops SOPs, internal operating procedures and training plans that support contractual requirements.
  • Handles confidential matters (personnel actions, management reports, etc.) in accordance with Vectrus policies.
  • Develops, implements and applies management control procedures to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Provides assistance, direction, and information to employees and grantees as required.
  • Supports the achievement of Vectrus' metrics, whether metrics are directly or indirectly affected by this position’s work activities.
  • Must be willing to work on holidays, short notices, all shifts, overtime and assigned to any MWR location in Marshall Islands. Vacation scheduling will also be dictated by mission requirements and determined independent from spouse if applicable.
  • Performs other duties as required and directed by MWR Management.

    • High school diploma and six (6) years of relevant experience within which two (2) years were in a supervisory position required. Associate degree with a major in recreation, physical education, leisure studies, business or related field with. Must provide a copy of the diploma or college transcript
    • Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a host country driver's license.
  • Experience:
    • Two (2) years of relevant supervisory experience preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Must exhibit strong organization and communication skills.
    • Must have a customer service background.
    • Read, write, and speak English at a proficiency level 3.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Must be capable of working in different weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 86 degrees Fahrenheit or more.
    • Indoor and/or outdoor environment (i.e., humid, hot, rainy season).
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
    • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
