Job description

Overview
The Local Government Practice Group is seeking a Senior Consultant for its Public Utilities Practice. The Local Government Practice Group helps local governments and utility agencies address organizational, information technology, and management needs. This role will support projects focused on business process improvement, organizational assessments, strategic planning, software system assessments and selection, and system implementation, with an emphasis on municipal Utilities and Public Works departments. This remote position will serve clients nationwide and report to senior leaders in the Local Government Practice Group.
You will bring proven project management experience, strong organizational and self-management skills, leadership ability, and effective written and verbal communication. Experience in public works and utilities operations, service delivery, staffing, business strategy, or business acumen will help establish you as a trusted advisor to local government clients.
Travel Expectations: Up to 50% travel to client sites is anticipated.
You Will
  • Oversee and support client service delivery to help ensure work is completed on time, within scope, and within budget, including assigning and managing staff responsible for client deliverables.
  • Document and support client decision-making within the project's established governance structure.
  • Coordinate internal and client team assignments in accordance with the project plan.
  • Share project and delivery updates with clients, team members, and other stakeholders, including leading client meetings.
  • Contribute to marketing and business development efforts, including drafting blog posts, attending industry conferences and groups, participating in prospective client meetings, reviewing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and partnering with the proposal writing team to develop RFP responses.

You Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Political Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 7-10 years of experience working with local government or utility agencies in management or leadership roles, including exposure to policies, procedures, business operations, budgeting, personnel and staffing, service delivery, and business or software systems such as enterprise asset management, work orders, customer information systems, geographic information systems, capital improvement planning, or project management.
  • Knowledge of project management, quality assurance and quality control procedures, with demonstrated skill in proactively managing problems.

Preferred qualifications include:
  • An advanced or graduate degree in business or public administration, along with a current project management certification (PMP or CAPM) or organizational change management certification.

Compensation Details
The base salary range targeted for this role is $90,000 - $115,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
