Contract Litigation Attorney – Real Estate, Housing & Civil Litigation (Remote – California)

This contract opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 2–5 years of civil litigation experience who is looking for hands-on responsibility, meaningful client interaction, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced litigators. The role offers exposure to every stage of the litigation process—from case inception through trial preparation—with the potential to transition into a full-time position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, oppositions, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct legal research, factual investigation, and case analysis.
  • Manage all phases of discovery, including written discovery and document production.
  • Conduct and defend depositions.
  • Prepare and argue motions in California state and federal courts.
  • Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
  • Assist with bench and jury trial preparation.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and provide case updates.
  • Meet court deadlines and effectively manage an independent caseload.

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar license in good standing.
  • 2–5 years of civil litigation experience.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Experience drafting substantive motions and legal memoranda.
  • Discovery and deposition experience required.
  • Oral advocacy experience preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Compensation: $110,000–$160,000 equivalent.
  • Hourly Rate: $70–$100, depending on experience.
  • Discretionary year-end bonus.
