Position Overview

As a Regional Sales Manager, you will operate as a key driver of growth within your territory, working directly with municipalities and private solid waste haulers. You will be part of a high-performing, consultative sales organization focused on delivering tailored solutions, winning complex opportunities, and strengthening long-term customer partnerships.

This is a field-based role requiring consistent in-person engagement, including travel to customer locations, trade shows, industry conferences, and training sessions.

Essential Functions

  • Build, maintain, and expand strong relationships with existing clients and key prospects
  • Drive new business through proactive prospecting, including face-to-face cold calls and strategic outreach
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer operations to position tailored solutions effectively
  • Manage full sales cycle, including opportunity development, proposal creation, and deal execution
  • Create, maintain, and execute a territory sales plan aligned with company objectives
  • Accurately forecast pipeline activity and report progress, risks, and competitive insights to leadership
  • Utilize Salesforce (CRM) to manage opportunities, track activity, and maintain data integrity
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop pricing, quotations, and bid responses
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, product demonstrations, and solution-based proposals
  • Lead and support RFP and bid processes with cross-functional teams
  • Maintain strong awareness of competitor products, positioning, and market activity
  • Represent Schaefer Plastics at trade shows, industry events, and association meetings
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development initiatives
  • Travel as required by car and/or air to effectively manage territory

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience within a structured, professional sales environment
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Strong ability to independently manage territory, pipeline, and daily sales activities
  • Proficiency in written communication, including proposals, presentations, and client correspondence
  • Demonstrated forecasting accuracy and pipeline management discipline
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly driven, self-motivated, and responsive with strong follow-up execution
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to balance short- and long-term objectives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for proposals, budgets, and project documentation
  • Ability to effectively present solutions in both small and mid-sized group settings
  • Experience prospecting, developing, and closing business using consultative and relationship-based sales approaches
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass company and customer-required background checks
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ethical conduct in all interactions
  • This is a remote, territory-based position. Candidates may reside anywhere within the assigned territory (Southeast - FL, TN, MS, AL, AR). The location shown in this posting represents one of the primary markets within the territory and is not a required office location.
