What is a remote outreach?

A Remote Outreach job involves reaching out to potential clients, partners, or community members through digital communication channels such as email, social media, and phone calls. The goal is to build relationships, promote products or services, or increase awareness about an organization. Remote Outreach professionals work from home or any location outside the traditional office, relying heavily on digital tools and platforms to perform their duties. This role often requires strong communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to manage tasks independently.

What are some common challenges faced in a remote outreach role, and how can they be effectively managed?

Remote Outreach professionals often encounter challenges such as building rapport with contacts virtually, staying motivated while working independently, and coordinating with team members across different time zones. To effectively manage these challenges, it's important to use clear and consistent communication tools, set structured daily goals, and participate actively in team check-ins. Developing strong digital networking skills and utilizing customer relationship management (CRM) platforms can also enhance productivity and relationship-building in a remote environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote outreach specialist?

JOB CATEGORY IN GENERAL: Sales, Marketing, Public Relations, etc.

COMPANY:

The Long Island Quiz Bowl Alliance occupies a leading position in a very unique industry: we run Quizbowl, or trivia, tournaments throughout the United States; sell Quizbowl questions to other competitions all over the world; run large online and national championship events; create software and hardware to facilitate competitions; and much more. We are the second-largest company in our industry, have rapidly and continuously grown, and have a legendarily friendly internal atmosphere. The company is youthful, though it has also been in operation in some form or another for a decade.

JOB:

We are seeking an Outreach Coordinator; this position involves getting teams to tournaments, question sales to clients both existing and new, getting teams to online events and Nationals, and, in the future, selling hardware and software to others in the industry. It also involves some administrative and data work, though we have others to assist you with this in part. Heavy collaboration occurs between the Outreach Coordinator and all the company's departments.

We're looking for someone for the long-term, who can grow with the company!

Definitely look at our website at liqba.com.

PERKS:

  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Complete flexibility in schedule: 20 hrs/wk, but can be arranged however you would like, so long as the hours take place between 6 AM and 7 PM
    • Note that travel is generally above and beyond the 20 hrs/wk requirement
  • Travel all around the United States, and get reimbursed for it
  • Unique industry; never boring or slow, always work to be done
  • Paid holidays!
  • As the company grows, the perks will grow! If you help grow the company, the job could become full-time!

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Markets tournaments to teams throughout the regions the LIQBA operates in.
  • Markets 30-20-10 and Nationals to teams nationwide.
  • Sells questions to other Quizbowl competitions in the United States.
  • Sells practice material to teams nationwide.
  • Develops connections with the Quizbowl community as a whole: players, coaches, parents, administrators, and so on.
  • Is the primary point of communication with the industry.
  • Generates and handles invoicing for most matters, though this is partially automated.
  • Does other tasks from time to time as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Must have impeccable communication skills, written and oral, in American English. Must be completely comfortable with contacting others by phone, text, email, on social media, by physical mail, or through in-person interaction. Must be an excellent salesperson. This is an absolute requirement.
  • Must have excellent written communication skills. As such, a writing sample must be submitted. This writing sample must be in American English, be at least a page, and be free of grammatical error. It must be written solely by you, without the assistance of any utility or AI program. This can be anything that shows your skills as a writer.
  • Must be an independent worker who can work with simple instruction; must be consistent in their duties.
  • Must own a computer, have high-speed internet access at the primary work location, and have the general ability to work digitally with no equipment provided by the LIQBA.
  • Must be able to do work on the computer with no technical support.
  • Must have a Discord account, or be able and willing to make one.
  • Must be physically capable of doing the work this job requires, must have reliable transportation in the form of an automobile, and must be able and willing to travel by car and air.
  • Must not be a full or part time resident of California, nor may become one while employed
  • Must have a primary work location in one of the counties listed above
  • Must have full and unencumbered authorization to work in the United States of America.

PREFERENCES:

  • Those who are no longer in High School or college.
  • Those who are familiar with, or have played, Quizbowl or a related competition, with more experience being even better.
  • Those who are familiar with Zoho Workspace.

EDUCATION:

None required. If you can meet the requirements above, your educational attainment is irrelevant to us.

EXPERIENCE:

1 year of sales, marketing, or PR experience is strongly preferred. This can be waived if the candidate worked as a public-school teacher at any point. Less experience will result in a lower rate of pay. This is both an entry and mid level position, and those candidates with no sales, marketing, or PR experience will be considered if they have at least 2 years of general work experience. Candidates whose only experience is their education will not be considered.

PAY:

Starts at $15 per hour, up to $20 per hour with significant experience.

DISQUALIFICATIONS:

  • If you do not meet the job requirements.
  • As the position involves contact with children, certain criminal convictions will result in the LIQBA being unable to hire you by law. Consult the law if you fall under this prohibition.
  • As the position involves handling money, certain other materially-related criminal convictions, including but not limited to theft, embezzlement, fraud, and identity theft, may result in disqualification.
