Job description

FreightTAS LLC, a leader in international freight forwarding and logistics recruiting, is looking for a dedicated Ocean Import Agent to join our team in Long Beach, CA, and Cranford, NJ. This full-time position offers a dynamic work environment where experienced professionals can manage and coordinate ocean import shipments efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the preparation and processing of ocean import shipments, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate with carriers, overseas agents, customs brokers, and clients to facilitate smooth cargo movement.
  • Prepare and review all necessary documentation including Bills of Lading, customs entries, and clearance paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with all U.S. Customs regulations and pertinent import laws and standards.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding shipment status, delivery timelines, duties, taxes, and regulatory requirements such as FDA codes and HTS classifications.
  • Maintain accurate records in CargoWise and other company systems.
  • Assist in resolving issues related to shipment delays, documentation discrepancies, or customs complications.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of experience in ocean import operations within freight forwarding or related logistics fields.
  • Knowledge of ocean freight processes, customs clearance procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with CargoWise, a MUST
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with U.S. customs regulations, duties, taxes, and trade compliance is essential.
