Job description

Location: Remote (US-based preferred)
Compensation: 100% commission-based, 30% of MRR from closed opportunities

Base is hiring a scrappy, self-starting SDR to help us grow our footprint in the port logistics space. If you’re excited to work directly with founders, get your hands dirty building pipeline, and learn the ins and outs of maritime tech—this is your shot.

In this role, you’ll be focused on top-of-funnel outreach: identifying, researching, and engaging with port service providers, shipping agencies, and maritime operations leaders. You’ll be the first point of contact in our sales motion, driving conversations that lead to demos and deals. Your work will directly fuel our growth and set the tone for how our brand shows up in the industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Research and identify potential leads across port service providers, ship charterers, and vessel agencies

  • Write and send cold emails, LinkedIn messages, and other outbound touchpoints that feel human, not spammy

  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads through discovery conversations

  • Set meetings for the CRO and sales team and follow up diligently

  • Keep CRM data clean and current, noting industry context, lead stage, and any follow-up needed

  • Collaborate with the CRO and leadership team to improve outreach sequences and sharpen our GTM messaging

  • Learn the Base product and maritime logistics space deeply enough to speak with confidence and curiosity

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–3 years of experience in sales development, lead generation, or similar (SaaS or maritime/logistics experience is a plus but not required)

  • Strong writing and communication skills—your emails should get responses

  • You’re comfortable with rejection, proactive by nature, and motivated by earning potential

  • Curious about how things work and excited to dig into the maritime and shipping industry

  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage your own outreach pipeline

  • Familiarity with tools like HubSpot, Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or similar

Bonus Points

  • Experience selling to industrial or maritime companies

  • Worked in a zero-to-one sales environment or helped shape outbound strategy

  • Exposure to port logistics, vessel agency, or supply chain technology

  • You’ve tested and improved your own outbound cadences before (and know what actually works)

Compensation & Growth

This is a commission-based role, with 20% revenue share from every license you help bring in. Example:

  • $119/user/month

  • 6 users per company

  • 78 companies closed = $11,138 in monthly recurring commission

You’ll work side-by-side with the CRO and get direct mentorship from experienced founders. Top-performing SDRs will have the opportunity to grow into a full Account Executive role and influence the future of our sales team.

Why Base?

We’re not just building software—we’re fixing broken processes that port agents, vendors, and charterers deal with every day. Our tool helps maritime teams handle port calls more cleanly, cut down on back-and-forth emails, and improve cost visibility. You’ll be helping bring real change to an industry that’s overdue for better tech.

If you're someone who wants to be part of a small, gritty team making big moves in an overlooked space, we'd love to meet you.

Apply now and help us reshape how the maritime world runs operations.
