Regulatory Operational NERC Compliance Manager - Renewables Energy Storage (BESS)
Locations: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)
This an opportunity to join an industry leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing that is focused on the development/execution of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They are at the forefront of the industry, have accumulated over 9GW+ of projects in a relatively short period of time, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase.
The Regulatory Operational Compliance Manager will lead a first class scalable NERC/ISO corporate and operational compliance program. This is a critical role for the organization that works directly with the company's Asset Management and Legal Team on driving a holistic approach to compliance management and a compliance considerate culture.
Experience with ERCOT based assets is a HUGE PLUS but this is a nationwide scope of operations that encompasses utility-scale renewables Corporate, Project Development, O&M, and Asset Management responsibilities. The incumbent may eventually build a team but the initial goal is to independently lead compliance initiatives in cohesion with the Asset Management goals working directly with the support of Legal and Consultants as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Renewables NERC Compliance Manager / Operational Regulatory Manager - Develops and implements tactical corporate and operational plans for NERC/ISO compliance management in line with asset based annual operating goals (short-term & long term)
  • Renewables NERC Compliance Manager / Operational Regulatory Manager - Acts as the company's Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the areas of NERC and FERC specific compliance for project development and operations initiatives
  • Renewables NERC Compliance Manager / Operational Regulatory Manager - Leads incident/accident investigations including root cause analysis, corrective action initiatives and devises company standards on non-compliance resolutions
  • Renewables NERC Compliance Manager / Operational Regulatory Manager - Creates internal controls to quantify effectiveness of company compliance initiatives and make any necessary real-time adjustments
  • Renewables NERC Compliance Manager / Operational Regulatory Manager - Acts as the key stakeholder with Outside Counsel and Legal firms to resolve compliance disputes and manage risk
  • Renewables NERC Compliance Manager / Operational Regulatory Manager - Represents the company's interest with all major compliance and regulatory bodies ISO/RTOs

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5-10+ years of corporate compliance and operational NERC/FERC/ISO compliance for operations for renewable energy electric transmission systems
  • Corporate asset based operational compliance experience dealing with utility-scale solar, wind, battery storage or energy storage projects; ERCOT experience is a HUGE PLUS
  • Strong track record developing compliance programs that deal with NERC, FERC, Public Utility Commissions (PUCs) and other Reliability organization standards, operating policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Well versed in compliance resolution and root cause analysis for compliance break downs
  • Experience with and knowledge of current ISO/RTO standards, operating policies, procedures, and guidelines preferred
  • An understanding of national energy power markets - PJM, ERCOT, SPP, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, and CAISO is beneficial
  • Candidates may have held Mid-Senior or Management titles such as: Regulatory Manager, Compliance Manager, NERC Manager, NERC Compliance Lead, Sr. Compliance Anlayst, Sr. NERC Compliance Advisor, Compliance Engineer
