Overview

E2 is seeking a Mid-Level Transmission Line Engineer to support the design and execution of overhead transmission line projects ranging from 69 kV to 500 kV. This role involves technical design, coordination across disciplines, and increasing responsibility for project deliverables and client interaction. The candidate will report to the Transmission Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed design of overhead transmission lines, including:
    • Structure spotting and profile development
    • Plan & profile drawings
    • Conductor and hardware selection
  • Execute and review line design using industry-standard tools (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER)
  • Perform basic to intermediate calculations for:
    • Sag-tension analysis
    • Clearance compliance (NESC, GO 95, utility standards)
  • Coordinate with structural engineers on pole/tower loading and design inputs
  • Support routing studies, constructability reviews, and cost estimates
  • Prepare engineering packages, drawings, and material lists
  • Interface with clients, survey teams, environmental teams, and other stakeholders
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering
  • 3-7 years of experience in transmission line design
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD required; experience with PLS-POLE and/or PLS-TOWER preferred
  • Working knowledge of NESC and applicable utility standards
  • Strong understanding of overhead line design principles and practices
  • EIT certification required; PE license preferred or in progress

Preferred

  • Experience working with major utilities (e.g., SCE, PG&E, SDG&E)
  • Experience with LiDAR, survey data integration, and digital terrain modeling
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle from routing through construction support

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Salary range for this position is $105,000 - $145,000.  The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
