Job description

Capital Bank Home Loans (CBHL), a division of Capital Bank N.A., is a premier nationwide mortgage lender. We deliver over $1BLN in new mortgage originations annually with a 50 state platform, in house underwriting and closing, and excellent pricing and products. We invested in digitizing our online mortgage application process to help expedite home buying or refinancing for our customers. Many top ranked mortgage lenders have joined Capital Bank Home Loans and we are looking to grow the business further by bringing in branches or independent originators. 

Position Purpose

The Loan Officer Assistant (LOA) works closely with an assigned Mortgage Loan Officer(s) (MLO) and processors to manage the MLO's pipeline effectively.  The Assistant is responsible for customer interaction, database management, and setting up loan packages.  The LOA analyzes the loan to ensure that all documentation and income is in line with mandated loan guidelines.  The LOA provides close support in all marketing efforts for the assigned MLO including lead follow-up, assistance with creating collateral and liaising with Bank compliance.

 Position Responsibilities
  • Supports the MLO in production and marketing efforts.
  • Assists the MLO in co-managing the pipeline for current closings.
  • Communicates with new potential customers and assists customers with the application process.
  • Reviews and analyzes all income and asset documentation to ensure the documentation supports the data in Encompass
  • Following leads and creates collateral for the MLO's marketing efforts.
  • Assists MLO with pricing and structuring loan including guideline assistance
  • Discloses loan accurately and completely sending application package to the borrowers for signature.
  • Following up with borrower to obtain signed application and supporting documents
  • Reviews application and disclosures for completeness.
  • Reviews borrower supporting documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Contacts borrower for any missing or unsigned documentation
  • Acts as a liaison between the borrower and the processor to ensure all items from the documentation list are received and are accurate.
  • Update disclosure tracking screen for Intend to Proceed
  • Confirm credit card authorization has been received and is complete
  • Review all income and asset documentation to ensure the documentation supports the data in Encompass
  • Make note of discrepancies and notify MLO and Processor of potential issues
  • Review income documentation and loan application to determine what kind of VOE to order (verbal or full)
  • Works with MLO regarding missing/requested items.
  • Updates conversation logs in Encompass

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Recent experience in the mortgage industry as an assistant, loan processor or loan officer is required. 
  • Must have knowledge of lending terminology and the ability/experience speaking with borrowers regarding lending requirements.
  • Proven customer service ability is required.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Microsoft office software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Encompass
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Compensation

  • Base Salary Range: Hourly. Final determination of where you are at in the salary range is based on numerous factors such as geographic location, relevant experience, skill set, education, and ability to meet qualifications within the job description.

  • This is a hybrid remote role.
