What is a Remote Military Simulation job?

A Remote Military Simulation job involves working with software and technology to create realistic virtual environments that simulate military operations. Professionals in this field design, operate, or analyze simulations to help train military personnel, test strategies, or evaluate equipment, all from a remote location. These jobs can include roles such as simulation engineers, operators, or analysts. The work often requires familiarity with military systems, computer modeling, and sometimes security clearance. Remote positions allow employees to contribute to mission-critical training and analysis without being physically present at a military base or facility.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in remote military simulation roles?

Professionals in remote military simulation roles often encounter challenges related to communication and coordination, especially when working with geographically dispersed teams. Technical issues, such as software compatibility or network connectivity, can also impact the smooth operation of simulations. Additionally, staying updated on evolving simulation technologies and defense protocols requires continuous learning and adaptability. Despite these challenges, remote work provides the flexibility to collaborate with diverse experts and contribute to large-scale training or mission planning from various locations.

What is the difference between Remote Military Simulation vs Remote Defense Analyst?

AspectRemote Military SimulationRemote Defense Analyst
Required CredentialsMilitary or simulation certifications, security clearancesSecurity clearances, defense or security certifications
Work EnvironmentRemote, military or defense contractor settingsRemote, defense agencies or consulting firms
Industry UsageMilitary training, simulation developmentDefense strategy, threat analysis

Remote Military Simulation focuses on creating and managing military training simulations, often requiring specialized certifications and security clearances. Remote Defense Analysts analyze defense data and strategies, also needing security clearances but with a focus on intelligence and strategic assessment. Both roles are remote, serve defense industries, but differ in their core functions and specific skill sets.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Military Simulation Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Military Simulation Specialist, you typically need expertise in military tactics, simulation technologies, and a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with simulation software (such as VBS or JCATS), networked training systems, and relevant security clearances are often required. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and strong communication skills are essential for coordinating with teams and interpreting simulation outcomes. These skills ensure accurate scenario modeling, effective team collaboration, and mission success in military training environments.

Job description

About Onebrief
Onebrief is collaboration and AI-powered workflow software designed specifically for military staffs. By transforming this work, Onebrief makes the staff as a whole superhuman - meaning faster, smarter, and more efficient.
We take ownership, seek excellence, and play to win with the seriousness and camaraderie of an Olympic team. Onebrief operates as an all-remote company, though many of our employees work alongside our customers at military commands around the world.
Founded in 2019 by a group of experienced planners, today, Onebrief's team spans veterans from all forces and global organizations, and technologists from leading-edge software companies. We've raised $320m+ from top-tier investors, including Battery Ventures, General Catalyst, Sapphire Ventures, Insight Partners, and Human Capital, and today, Onebrief is valued at $2.15B. With this continued growth, Onebrief is able to make an impact where it matters most.
Battle Road Digital, part of Onebrief, applies state-of-the-art innovations and experience from the video game industry to build the future of simulations, modeling, and operations with AtomEngine - our proprietary cloud-based game engine that's making the world playable.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Technical Program Manager to coordinate the execution and delivery across multiple programs for our government customers. This role will coordinate internal project teams, customer stakeholders, and external partners to ensure seamless delivery, alignment with mission objectives, and long-term program success.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing programs in the government space, strong customer-facing communication skills, and the ability to balance technical, contractual, and operational priorities.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex programs for government customers using AtomEngine, ensuring commitments are met on time and with high quality
  • Serve as the primary point of coordination between Battle Road, government stakeholders, and external partners throughout the program lifecycle
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer goals, workflows, and success criteria, advocating for them in planning, execution, and delivery decisions
  • Translate customer needs into actionable delivery plans and product requirements, including epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and milestones
  • Own program execution by managing plans, schedules, budgets, dependencies, risks, and deliverables across multiple concurrent efforts
  • Facilitate effective collaboration across engineering, product, customer success, and partner teams, maintaining alignment and momentum
  • Track, evaluate, and communicate program status, risks, and outcomes, leading regular reviews and ensuring transparency with all stakeholders
  • Travel frequently to customer sites and partner locations as required to support program delivery

What We Look For
  • 5+ years experience managing programs or projects for U.S. federal government or defense customers
  • Prior experience working with or alongside software engineering and technical teams, particularly on complex or platform-based products
  • Experience coordinating work across multiple organizations or partner teams, including subcontractors or external vendors
  • Comfort operating in regulated or compliance-driven environments, where documentation, traceability, and auditability matter
  • Background in simulation, modeling, geospatial systems, or game-engine-adjacent technologies
  • Due to federal contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship is mandatory for this position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Secret or Top-Secret security clearance
