Primary Objective:

ASL Video Remote Medical Interpreter assures smooth communication between Health Care Provider(s) and Deaf/Hard of Hearing Patients by providing accurate, culturally sensitive interpretation of all information.

Essential Functions:

  • Adhere to the company quality policy and promote customer service by supporting our clients.

  • Interpret between American Sign Language and English for hospitals, clinics, and medical facilities nationwide and some non-classroom, educational settings.

  • Accurately and completely interprets conversations between providers and consumers.

  • Establishes and maintains quality customer service and positive interaction with all users.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality by HIPAA policies and standards.

  • Maintain professionalism through appearance, attitude, and posture.

  • Good customer service and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to adjust to changing technologies and policies.

  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Access to dedicated HIPAA-compliant office/workspace.

  • Adhere to the company quality policy and promote customer service by supporting our clients.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Technical Requirements:
You must meet these technical and workspace requirements to work remotely.

  • Must have a HIPAA Compliant Workspace (i.e., Chair, Desk, and a backdrop in color Chroma Blue)

  • You must use a professional backdrop of a Chroma Blue color that shall have no variations within the camera view.

  • Must have a dedicated high-speed, private, and secure internet connection: The device must be connected directly to the router via ethernet cable.

  • Minimum download speed 10 Mbps / Minimum upload speed 10 Mbps.

  • Headphones: Use a noise-cancelling, USB-wired headset with a built-in microphone (Note: Wireless/Bluetooth headphones unacceptable).

  • Must have a Web Camera (i.e., USB video camera with integrated H.264 hardware or a built-in video camera with 720p or higher resolution).

  • Dress code: Dress professionally and wear solid colors.

Job Requirements:
You must meet these experience, education, and clarification requirements to be eligible to apply.

  • High school diploma or GED

  • RID Certification: Must have NIC, CI/CT, or CSC certification and be listed within the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. or BEI

  • Minimum of five years of remote medical interpreting experience

  • Medical terminology knowledge

  • Exceptional customer service skills and interpersonal skills

  • Documented fluency in English and American Sign Language

  • Obtain a qualifying score on company medical interpreting assessment of Level 3 or higher (Professional Performance)

  • Equal command of Medical/Educational and Social Service terminology in English and ASL

  • Experience learning proprietary and used company software

  • Critical thinking skills and a "teamwork mindset."
