Description
Adjunct Faculty within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) play a critical role in the success of UNE's online programs. Adjunct faculty facilitate the learning process for online students through timely, effective instruction and clear communication. Instructors also serve as mentors, sharing their expertise to guide students and help them achieve their educational and professional goals. Faculty support student retention by creating a positive educational environment, enabling students to gain the maximum benefit from the program in which they are enrolled. Instructors will receive supervision, collaboration, and guidance from the UNE Online Master of Biomedical Science (MBS) program.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert, graduate-level knowledge in Biostatistics.
  • Guide students through their educational experience while upholding the CPS commitment to student success.
  • Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner, within 24 hours.
  • Facilitate class instruction by actively engaging in the online course portal at least five times per week.
  • Host a minimum of one hour of virtual office hours per week.
  • Demonstrate excellent collaborative and communication skills.
  • Analyze and apply best practices in online education.

Qualifications
  • Experience teaching online in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and assessment and has a passion for teaching.
  • Master's degree required (PhD preferred) in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Biomedical Data Science, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience in Biostatistics.
  • Commitment to motivating and encouraging students in academic and professional settings.
  • Expertise in online teaching and a willingness to learn and apply new technological approaches to education.
  • Experience using the Brightspace/D2L Learning Management System preferred.
