Job Description

Amcor Rigid Packaging Solutions North America (RPSNA) has an immediate need for a Sr. Product Development Engineer.As a member of the Bottles Product Development team, this role will have responsibility for all technical aspects of a development project from initiation through full production capability. This position will work closely with Customers, Sales, Design Engineers, Project Managers, R&D, Manufacturing, Engineering Support Service groups, and Product line Management to develop next generation products that drive profitability and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-functional team through the development of new products from concept, manufacturing implementation, and commercial launch.
  • Has responsibility for execution of the project plan and driving decisions to deliver the project on time, within budget, and within scope.
  • Responsible for oversight of the product and tooling design, which includes leading ideation sessions, conducting competitive analysis, documenting design requirements, DFMEA, and leading design reviews to ultimately gain team alignment.
  • Coordinate the Technical Development Plan that outlines all the details necessary for the Product Line Manager to respond to an RFQ or create a Business Case, including all cost inputs, capital equipment costs, and evaluation of the technologies required for the development and manufacturing.
  • Lead technical communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Responsible for reporting deviations on time, cost, and deliverable project components to senior management as project progresses.
  • Responsible for adherence to Amcor, industry, and/or regulatory procedures as well as Management of Change, Stage Gate, and ISO processes.
  • Work closely with Quality personnel to establish critical to quality metrics and to ensure process capability is validated for those metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7+ years of relevant Engineering experience within product development and manufacturing of plastic bottles required. Experienced in the multi-step process such as EBM, SBM, & RHB.
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed (~10% - 20%)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge in statistical methods and programs (SPC/DOE/MiniTab)
  • Self-motivated and assertive individual
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, be a proactive thinker, and be results-oriented
  • Project Management experience a plus
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required for data driven decisions

The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $120,000 to $140,000; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range $110,200 to $155,000 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor's Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits. The salary range provided reflects the anticipated base pay for this role at the time of this posting.
