We have an opportunity for a legal & privacy compliance professional to join a fun, dynamic and collaborative legal, privacy and compliance team. Experience in the consumer-facing digital health space or healthcare technology industry is a plus. In this role you will play a key role in RVO Health's privacy and health care compliance programs, managing the operations of those programs, and supporting our business in meeting a myriad of legal, privacy and regulatory requirements, including federal and state privacy laws, HIPAA, TCPA, FDA, and other applicable laws and regulations.

Where You'll Be

To prioritize togetherness, culture, and accountability, RVO Health operates on an in-office work schedule. We expect employees to work from our Minneapolis office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. You are welcome to work remotely Mondays and Fridays if you wish.

What You'll Do
  • You'll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our privacy and regulatory compliance programs, including overseeing and managing:
    • development and maintenance of program documentation, including policies, procedures, standards, and guidance;  
    • regulatory changes and updates;
    • risk assessments, audits, gap assessments, and tests; 
    • development and maintenance of training and awareness materials;  
    • program reporting and metrics;  
    • privacy and regulatory frameworks for vendor management, including the development and maintenance of questionnaires, checklists, playbooks, and other tools; 
    • programs for detecting, investigating, and responding to compliance program issues, including reports of noncompliance, complaints, and investigations from regulators; and,
    • development, maintenance, and implementation of incident response programs.
What We're Looking For
  • At least 2-4 years' experience working in privacy and/or healthcare compliance, with a focus on general health privacy and/or HIPAA.
  • A business acumen with the ability to interact and communicate across all levels. 
  • High level of personal integrity. 
  • Growth-mindset, with a passion for learning and solving problems. 
  • Ability to work independently to execute on program and company initiatives. 
  • Ability to professionally handle confidential matters and exude the appropriate level of judgment and maturity. 
  • Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning and organization abilities. 
  • An analytical mind able to "see" the complexities of procedures and regulations. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and high attention to detail within a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to work across a variety of privacy and compliance related projects.
  • Experience working within an internal compliance program.

Preferred: 

  • BS/BA in a relevant field
  • Preferred experience researching, interpreting, and reporting on a myriad of laws and regulations. 
  • Experience using AI tools to support compliance operations is a plus. 
  • Experience with privacy management tools or software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, MHMDA, or similar frameworks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with health care and digital laws and regulations such as HIPAA, Anti-Kickback Statute, TCPA, FTC guidance, and others is a plus.

Pursuant to various state Fair Pay Acts, below is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company. The following benefits are provided by RVO Health, subject to eligibility requirements.

  • Starting Salary: $104,000 - $115,000*
