About the Opportunity

Are you an experienced accountant looking for a dynamic environment where your hard work is matched with a clear path for professional advancement? ACA International is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our team and handle end-to-end accounting operations.

In this role, you will support our daily accounting functions across our 6 corporations, and 16 departments. While that might sound like a lot of moving parts on paper, our financial systems are highly streamlined, standardized and clean. Managing these entities simply provides an engaging variety to your work weekโ€”ensuring your routine never feels stagnantโ€”while giving you direct, valuable mentorship under our VP of Finance.

We are looking for someone who has a solid grasp of foundational accounting workflows and is ready to expand their capabilities into fund tracking, budgeting, and overall financial strategy. This is a position you can truly grow into.

What You Will Own
  • Financial Oversight & Reporting: Execute standard month-end closures, post journal entries (including prepaids/asset amortization), handle intercompany balancing, and prepare balance sheets and capital cash flow statements directly for the VP of Finance.

  • Accounts Receivable & Member Services: Manage and audit member statements, process check/credit card/wire payments, handle credit card chargebacks, and track past-due collections across multiple entities.

  • Accounts Payable & Vendor Relations: Manage full-cycle A/P pipelines, coordinate vendor onboarding (W-9/1099 compliance), process ACH and check runs, and audit invoices for proper sales/use tax compliance.

  • Cash Management: Reconcile bank depository accounts weekly, manage petty cash systems, and handle banking verification tasks.

  • Budget & Audit Support: Partner with the VP of Finance and department heads to gather data and build spreadsheets for the annual nonprofit budget preparation and scheduled auditing cycles.

What You Bring to the Table
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of professional, hands-on accounting experience is required. You must already thoroughly understand full-cycle A/P, A/R, and basic ledger adjustments. Prior experience in a nonprofit setting or trade association is a major plus.

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred (or an Associateโ€™s degree combined with exceptional, proven full-charge bookkeeping experience).

  • Software Toolkit: Hands-on professional proficiency with Sage and QuickBooks systems is required, along with advanced MS Excel skills and precise 10-key data entry speed.

  • Core Strengths: Impeccable attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, top-tier communication skills for member/vendor interactions, and an absolute commitment to handling confidential payroll and financial records with discretion.

  • Hybrid Readiness: The ability to work seamlessly and productively while split between a remote home office and a few structured, collaborative days in our Edina office each week.

Ready to Scale Your Career?

We believe in investing in our team's long-term internal growth. If you are a motivated accountant who wants to take the next step in your career under executive mentorship, we want to hear from you.
