Intellectual Property Legal Assistant (Patent Prosecution Focus) – Remote (Texas)

Our client, a well-established and highly respected multi-state law firm, is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Legal Assistant to join its growing team. This is a 100% remote opportunity for Texas residents and offers the chance to work with a sophisticated intellectual property practice serving innovative clients across a variety of industries.

This position will be heavily focused on patent prosecution support, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced IP professional looking to further develop their career within a collaborative and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys and patent professionals in all aspects of U.S. and foreign patent prosecution.
  • Prepare, file, and manage patent applications and related correspondence with the USPTO and foreign associates.
  • Monitor and maintain patent prosecution deadlines and docketing requirements.
  • Prepare Information Disclosure Statements (IDS), declarations, powers of attorney, assignments, and other patent-related documentation.
  • Coordinate filing activities and communicate with clients, inventors, foreign associates, and government agencies.
  • Maintain electronic files and case management systems.
  • Review incoming correspondence and ensure timely action on all patent matters.
  • Assist with trademark and copyright matters as needed.
  • Generate reports and assist attorneys with portfolio management activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of intellectual property legal assistant experience.
  • Strong patent prosecution experience is required.
  • Familiarity with USPTO procedures, filing requirements, and prosecution workflows.
  • Experience working with foreign patent filings and international prosecution is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and IP management/docketing systems.
