JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure and Systems Engineer with a strong background in Linux (Ubuntu), server virtualization, and remote server/network management. This role requires hands-on expertise in configuring and maintaining IT infrastructure, troubleshooting complex system issues, and implementing new technologies.

This is a highly technical, hands-on position-not an entry-level role or a developer position. The ideal candidate thrives in an environment where they must learn new technologies independently, analyze them, document findings, and present recommendations to management. This position will sit in our Austin, Texas HQ and be able to travel to installs and upgrades as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

  • Linux (Ubuntu) Administration - Install, configure, and maintain Ubuntu-based servers, ensuring security and performance. We would love to see what other distros you love as well!
  • Server Virtualization - Manage and maintain virtualized environments, including provisioning and optimizing VM resources
  • Network & Server Management - Monitor, troubleshoot, and configure servers, NAS systems, and network devices remotely
  • Device Configuration - Create, modify, and deploy device configurations across various networking and IT systems
  • Technical Exploration - Analyze new technologies, test them, document findings, and provide recommendations
  • International & Domestic Travel - Be available for travel (occasionally on short notice of 12 to 24 hours)
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in system administration and network administration
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex IT environments
  • Experience with remote infrastructure management and network security best practices
  • Ability to independently research, test, and document new technologies
  • Ready to assist our company's staff with escalation support via a ticketing system
  • Willingness to travel both nationally and internationally on short notice (Very rarely but sometimes 12-24 hours notice). Some trips will require a week or more away from home.

  • LogicMonitor - Infrastructure monitoring and custom sensor creation
  • Zero Trust Security - Implementation and best practices
