Job description

Founded in 1954, Sack & Menendez, Inc. is a customs brokerage and international freight forwarding firm dedicated to helping our clients navigate the ever-changing landscape of international trade. With a focus on informed compliance and exceptional client services, we work in partnership with our clients, their supply chain associates, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and all participating government agencies (PGAs) to facilitate legitimate trade. We value honesty, responsiveness, inclusivity, a strong work ethic and a consistent commitment to learning. As each client is appreciated and respected, so too is each member of our team.
Responsibilities
·       Act as the primary contact for your assigned accounts and be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of their import shipments.
·       Develop strong working relationships with clients by listening and responding to clients' needs and inquiries, proactively identifying account issues and working diligently to resolve them.
·       Receive and review shipment documentation to ensure compliance with all federal laws and regulations prior to shipment processing. Follow up with clients and supply chain partners for additional information and clarification as needed.
·       Classify shipments in consultation with clients and obtain required PGA product information.
·       Initiate shipment processing in our customs software system, transmit shipment data to CBP and applicable PGAs and create client billings.
·       Coordinate exams and obtain and distribute CBP and PGA releases.
·       Monitor and manage shipment movements from origin through to final delivery, and secure freight releases in accordance with client service agreements.
·       Identify and/or address post-entry issues in consultation with management.
Preferred Qualifications
·       Strong prioritization, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
·       Excellent communication skills with the desire and ability to request and provide information in a friendly, thorough, and efficient manner.
·       Ability to think critically and solve problems.
·       Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
·       Ability to collaborate and maintain strong working relationships with others.
·       High attention to detail and accuracy.
·       A desire to learn and adapt to meet changing trade conditions and regulatory requirements.
·       Minimum of 2 years of customs entry-writing experience.
·       Customs broker license preferred.
·       If working remotely, a dedicated office space where paper and electronic data can be kept secure.
Per the Customs Regulation detailed in 19 CFR 111.53 (e), a Customs broker may not employ any individual who the broker knows has been convicted of a felony without written approval from the Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection. To ensure our compliance with this regulation, unless prohibited by state or local law, we will conduct a pre-employment background check.
