Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM PST

Reports to: Management

Direct Reports: 3 (Benefits Coordinator, HR Generalist, Payroll Coordinator)

Salary: $90,000 annually

About the Role

We're hiring an HR Manager to lead our HR function and a team of three HR professionals supporting a fully remote security and staffing operation. Reporting directly to management, this role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution. You'll partner with leadership on workforce planning, compliance, and people strategy while staying directly involved in the day-to-day operations of recruiting, payroll, benefits, and employee relations. The ideal candidate has prior HR leadership experience in the security or staffing industry and understands the unique demands of high-volume hiring, multi-state compliance, and client-driven workforce management.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Directly manage a team of three: Benefits Coordinator, HR Generalist, and Payroll Coordinator
  • Provide coaching, performance management, professional development, and accountability across the team
  • Set team priorities, allocate workload, and ensure execution against organizational goals
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and team meetings
  • Make hiring, promotion, and termination decisions for the HR function

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Partner with management on workforce planning, organizational design, and people strategy
  • Develop and execute HR initiatives aligned with business priorities
  • Advise leadership on employee relations, organizational changes, and compliance matters
  • Establish and maintain HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook
  • Report on HR metrics, headcount, turnover, and workforce trends to management

Recruiting Oversight & Administrative Hiring

  • Oversee the recruiting department for compliance, ensuring hiring practices, documentation, background checks, I-9 verification, and onboarding meet federal and multi-state legal requirements
  • Directly recruit for administrative positions when openings arise, managing the full cycle from job posting through offer
  • Partner with Operations and Administration leadership to assess administrative hiring needs and define role requirements
  • Ensure recruiting processes for security officer roles remain compliant and consistent across the team

Operational HR Oversight

  • Oversee payroll operations in Paycom, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Oversee benefits administration, including open enrollment, vendor management, and plan design input
  • Ensure compliance with federal and multi-state employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, ACA, ERISA, state-specific wage and hour laws)
  • Lead investigations into employee relations issues, harassment claims, and policy violations
  • Manage HR-related audits, reporting, and regulatory filings

Client & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with Operations and Administration leadership on staffing strategy and workforce needs
  • Support client-facing matters related to staffing, escalations, and workforce planning as needed
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management and leadership on people-related decisions

Systems & Process

  • Oversee HRIS administration, ensuring data integrity, reporting capability, and process optimization
  • Drive process improvements across recruiting, onboarding, payroll, and offboarding
  • Ensure proper use of Monday.com and other HR tools across the team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field — OR equivalent professional experience
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with 3+ years in an HR leadership or management role
  • Direct experience managing an HR team of 3 or more
  • Prior HR experience in the security, staffing, or contract workforce industry
  • Hands-on full-cycle recruiting experience, particularly for administrative or operational roles
  • Deep working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment law
  • Hands-on experience with payroll operations (Paycom strongly preferred)
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and project management tools (Monday.com a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Strong communication skills, including executive presence and client-facing capability
  • Available to work Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Pacific Time, from a home office in Texas

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent senior HR certification
  • Experience supporting a fully remote or distributed workforce
  • Multi-state HR operations experience
  • Experience with high-volume hiring (50+ hires per year)
  • Familiarity with union environments or collective bargaining (if applicable to operations)
  • Prior experience reporting to ownership or senior management

What We Offer

  • Salary of $90,000 per year, based on experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance — employer covers 50% of premiums
  • 401(k) retirement plan (no employer match)
  • Paid time off and holidays
