Their responsibilities include database performance tuning, data backup and recovery, implementing security measures to protect sensitive information, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. One of the primary challenges for Remote Healthcare Database Administrators is ensuring data security and compliance with healthcare regulations like HIPAA while working off-site. Additionally, they must manage complex databases that support multiple clinical applications, often requiring close coordination with IT, medical staff, and vendors to resolve issues promptly. Staying proactive with updates, monitoring for potential breaches, and maintaining clear communication channels with the on-site team are key strategies to effectively manage these challenges.

Jahnel Group's mission is to provide the absolute best environment for software creators to pursue their passion by connecting them with great clients doing meaningful work.

We get to build some of the most complex and compelling applications for our clients located across the country. We're a fast-growing INC 5000 recognized company, yet we still work as a very close-knit team (100+ employees). We're growing like crazy, and if you're looking for the next place to call home, hit us up for a beer or coffee.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a Database Administrator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving data-related problems, working through a high volume of technical tickets, and digging into SQL to identify root causes and implement solutions.

This is not a traditional DBA position. Instead, we're looking for someone with strong SQL skills who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, reporting, data fixes, and supporting business-critical applications. The ideal candidate is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, learning complex business logic, and working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Instead of the typical job description, here's a breakdown of the tasks and qualities we're looking for in our next team member:

Primary Responsibilities
  • Investigate and resolve application and data-related support tickets.
  • Write, test, and execute SQL scripts to perform data updates, corrections, and maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot production and UAT issues by analyzing data, stored procedures, and application behavior.
  • Identify root causes of system issues and work with development teams to implement solutions.
  • Support reporting and operational data requests across multiple business functions.
  • Modify and maintain existing stored procedures, queries, and database processes.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand system workflows and business rules.
  • Participate in ongoing application support, maintenance, and enhancement initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong SQL experience, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, and stored procedures.
  • Experience troubleshooting data issues and performing production data analysis.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server or similar relational database platforms.
  • Ability to understand and navigate complex business logic within existing systems.
  • Experience working in ticket-driven support or maintenance environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Java applications is a plus but not required.
  • Experience supporting enterprise business applications is preferred.
  • DBA experience is not required.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role
  • Enjoys solving puzzles and digging into data.
  • Comfortable working through a steady stream of tickets and operational requests.
  • Takes ownership of issues from discovery through resolution.
  • Understands that not every role is greenfield development and finds satisfaction in keeping critical systems running smoothly.
  • Has a "grinder" mentality and takes pride in being dependable.
