Title: Outpatient Ancillary Coder

Location: Fountain Valley/Predominantly Remote

Department: Document Improvement

Status: Full Time

Shift: Day

Pay Range*: $29.20/hr - $42.33/hr

Position Summary

This position is responsible for applying codes in the EHR for all outpatient ancillary type accounts.  Code assignment is based on ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and CPT. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Assigns ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and CPT codes (when appropriate) with an accuracy rate of 97% percent or greater. 

  • Meets minimum daily productivity standard of 100 ancillary type records. 

  • Verifies department added procedure charges when necessary.

  • Applies modifiers when appropriate.

  • Maintains follow up work queues in a timely manner.

  • Works independently in a remote environment. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year ICD-10-CM/CPT coding experience in an acute care hospital OR successful completion of an accredited coding program

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • One of the following credentials required - AHIMA: CCS//RHIT/RHIA or AAPC: COC
