What does Remote First mean in the context of jobs?

'Remote First' refers to a work policy or company culture where working remotely is the default mode of operation. Employees are encouraged or expected to work from locations outside of a traditional office, and company systems, communication, and workflows are designed to support remote work. While some in-person workspaces may be available, they are typically optional or secondary. This approach allows for greater flexibility, access to a broader talent pool, and often improved work-life balance for employees.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote First employee?

To thrive in a Remote First role, you need strong self-management, digital communication, and time management skills, often supported by prior remote work experience and proficiency in collaborative platforms. Familiarity with tools like Slack, Zoom, project management software, and secure remote access systems is crucial. Proactive communication, adaptability, and self-motivation are standout soft skills for remote environments. These abilities ensure productivity, collaboration, and accountability without direct in-person supervision.

What are the main challenges and benefits of working in a Remote First company environment?

Working in a remote-first company offers flexibility and the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team from various locations, but it also presents unique challenges. Remote employees often need to be proactive communicators and manage their own schedules to stay productive, as daily interactions can be less spontaneous than in a traditional office. Building strong relationships and maintaining team cohesion requires intentional effort through digital tools and regular virtual meetings. However, remote-first environments typically provide autonomy, support for work-life balance, and access to roles regardless of geographic location, making them appealing for many professionals.

Real Estate Senior Acquisitions Manager

Tampa, FL • On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

Description
The Zeres Group is a real estate investment company focused on residential land, future development opportunities, and strategic property investments across multiple U.S. markets.
We specialize in acquiring off-market vacant land directly from property owners and creating value through assignments, resales, minor subdivisions, entitlements, and other investment strategies. We have generated more than $2 million in revenue over the past 24 months and are continuing to expand our deal volume, team, and operating systems.
Our core values are Disciplined Results, Relentless Excellence, and Continuous Innovation. These are not words on a wall. They shape how we communicate, solve problems, measure performance, and follow through on commitments.
About the Role
This is a senior-level, phone-based sales position for an experienced real estate acquisition professional located within commuting distance of Tampa, Florida.
You will receive new warm seller leads each month generated by our marketing department. You will be responsible for contacting, further qualifying, underwriting, nurturing, negotiating with, and converting qualified property owners into signed purchase and sale agreements.
You will guide each seller through our structured three-part acquisition process:
  • Process Call
  • Offer Call
  • Purchase and Sale Agreement Review

This is a closer's role. You will own each acquisition opportunity from the initial seller conversation through the electronically executed contract and completed handoff to our Transactions Department.
This is initially a senior individual contributor position. After becoming fully ramped and consistently meeting performance and leadership standards, there may be opportunities to expand into sales management, training, and selected disposition responsibilities. These are future growth opportunities, not Day 1 expectations.
What We Offer
  • A consistent flow of new warm seller leads generated by our marketing department
  • Established acquisition process, scripts, and call-review systems
  • Structured 90-day onboarding and training program
  • Leadership support with underwriting, pricing, and offer strategy
  • Company buy-box guidelines and land-specific underwriting tools
  • Ongoing coaching, call reviews, role-playing, and performance feedback
  • Full back-end support through our Transactions and Dispositions Departments
  • Upside commission based on closed-deal profitability
  • Clear KPIs and performance expectations
  • Future leadership and professional growth opportunities
  • Remote-first 90-day onboarding period with planned Tampa-based training sessions
This Role Is NOT For
  • Someone who avoids phone calls, negotiations, or difficult conversations
  • Someone who needs constant supervision to remain productive
  • Someone who resists structured sales processes, scripts, KPIs, or CRM requirements
  • Someone who focuses on signing contracts without considering deal quality
  • Someone who does not maintain accurate notes, follow-up tasks, and pipeline stages
  • Someone who becomes discouraged by rejection, delayed decisions, or long sales cycles
  • Someone who avoids accountability or becomes defensive when receiving feedback
  • Someone looking for immediate management authority without first proving individual performance
  • Someone satisfied with average performance and limited professional growth
Compensation & Benefits
  • W-2 employment
  • Base salary of $65,000 to $75,000 annually, based on experience
  • Upside commission equal to 6% of realized commissionable profit from closed deals acquired by the employee
  • Commission is paid after the transaction closes and the company receives its proceeds
  • Expected first-year total compensation of approximately $100,000 to $120,000
  • Fully ramped earning potential of approximately $125,000 to $150,000 or more
  • After successfully completing the first 90 days, eligibility for a temporary post-ramp performance bonus of up to $1,750 per month during months four, five, and six
  • Flexible time-off policy
  • Primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend availability based on scheduled seller calls and lead flow
  • Remote-first during the initial 90-day onboarding period
  • After graduating from onboarding, the role is expected to include at least one in-person Tampa workday per week, with additional in-person collaboration when needed
